After this past weekend we might have learned what the future of bass fishing will look like for the next couple of years. What’s the impact, will there be changes, is it fun to watch. These are all questions everyone is asking.

Man I'd say 90% of the people I saw on Toledo the last 2 days were in the middle wondering around in circles fishing and I freakin smashed them throwing a Carolina rig and finesse jig fairly shallow… it was awesome!!! But man it wasn't a great tournament to watch and you're spot on Defoe throwing s freakin buzzbait was probably the coolest thing about this one because I don't even have a buzzbait box in my boat right now.
I agree. The Bassmaster page is so hard to deal with.
BPT unwatchable will give you Otts deal was kool other than that flipping chugs zzzzzzz not blaming anglers. All fish counts is going ruin BPT just plain boring watching crappie fishing. Most people want to see the bigs not cookie cutters. Been gone Duck hunting wore out glad it is time to go bass fishing
The ott buzz bait deal was cool…Scott slowly catching those bigs was too…as was the beginning of npfl…fritz sitting throwing a crank
Todd any chance you’d do a video on tips on towing on long trips. I know you don’t do as many these days but just an idea for a future video. Thanks
Watching them livescope sux on tv or you tube
The biggest has ruled for years, he who catches the the heaviest 5 wins in my eyes
Now, all the locals will do it
I watched every second of every day of the MLF live stream and throughly enjoyed every second. But I retired to TB now 9 years ago and live here full time. I recognized most of the spots where they showed them fishing and even saw them sometimes outside my living room window. My home was even on the live stream, lol. What surprised me most was how few other baits were tried (excepting buzz bait Ott). Yeah, the “big crappie jig” was the deal but why so few jerk baits? Jigging spoon? Under spin? Lipless? I’d still prefer best 5 over “most little fish”, imho. Btw, I could have gone out on the lake and followed or played hide and seek with the pros but I think that’s just disrespectful and could affect the pros’ catch, so I don’t. What do you think?
When can you ever say that 80% of the field was fishing with spinning tackle and swimbaits at Toledo in the prespawn stage!? Tournanment fishing has definitely changed on our ponds as well. Wow, this really solidified what most all were saying last year.
There is unfortunately too much hate going around online about bass fishing. No matter how you cut it unless they had a camera in every boat and had let's say a 5 second delay or more to where they could immediately cut to whichever angler just hooked a fish it gets boring watching guys just cast all day. Even greats like Hackney, if he had a camera on him for the full time and he only got 7 bites all day flipping a jig, but 5 were quality fish, 99% of viewers would tune out. Now as far as MLF, the truly vocal individuals on social media typically have nothing good to say about them. And a bunch who said they were upset that there was no live on day 1 or 2 have said before they will never watch them ever. I got bored and looked at a few of the posts on Facebook bashing MLF and I stopped counting at 20 the number of individuals that have bashed MLF for years and then complained that it wasn't live.
Hey Todd I cant find the results from Brandon belt tournament
I did watch the bpt live and I thought it was outstanding because they did show plenty of live live scope and I see how addicting it can be! It was very cool also because the lake rose 3 feet so we had mud issues the fish were changing through the 6 days of tournament. Also with the conditions it was a winter tournament , the majority if the fish were offshore and suspended . I enjoyed it.
I can say i was a big fan on seeing dc and wheelers active targets on the live
Todd how do you think it would affect one of our local circuits like champs, TTO, etc. if they were to ban FFS during competition for a season?
BBT was kinda boring. I liked when they showed Connell and Wheeler a few times they showed their screen. Now that shows me something. How they work the fish to get the bite was really good. I think if there's going to be so much FFS in the BBT there should be a requirement to split the screen and show what the angler is looking at on his screen and him live working the fish.
I'm right there with ya.. I have been like quit hating if it makes you better then have it and you better have it but now.. that was pretty horrible.. even Okeechobee!!! Love how Scott and Tharp did it.. this is literally for the younger gen, video game fishing.. all I hope is it runs them suckers to the bank..
The sollution is simple. We need to go back to having a 45min episode of an event putting the best moments over 3 or 4 days into 1 package.
Having to fill 3 days of 6-8 hours per day content will inherently result in "dead time" where they have to show everything.
Its just like your YT videos Todd. I will rather watch a video of yours thats 15 – 20min long. If you filmed your normal everyday live for the entire day, it will be boring. Same concept.
I watched the NPFL because I wanted to keep up with Kyle Welcher. I enjoyed their set up a lot. I could flip between the dudes being covered and watch their uncut process here and there through the day.
I want to see a top 20 from each tournament trail once a year tournament.. 4 days .. 3 days biggest 5 weigh in then final day MLf style
I hope Dustin doesn't get dismissed from JW's posse. He needs to remember his place is to provide waypoints and info for JW, not win tourneys. I didn't watch much of the BPT as Bryan Thrift and Andy Morgan didn't make it past day one. Thrift may be OK, Morgan will struggle if he has to scope to compete. He's as "old school" as there is. PB wise, I have one 10# LM, one 5# Spot, one 5# SM. Thanks for another great video.
Every fish counts limits the ways to win. 5 fish you can still win with other techniques. ?
DC did put out a practice video.
I learned that live scope makes for an absolutely miserable television product, and that Ott stole my spot, lol.
Ffs is here to stay no doubt. The debate will continue to no end. My hope is that the fish settle this issue for us. Hopefully these fish that were hardly ever bothered will get used to the fishing pressure and start to get extremely difficult to catch. Oh these guys may adapt but so will the fish. Nothing lasts forever but in this case I'm rooting for the fish. Always old school
I agree with you, this has always been my take on it . I think the only way to combat the problem is scheduling and water bodies. And even that won’t work all the time, but you could possibly have events where not everyone is doing the same thing. Problem is the organizations probably aren’t too worried about factoring that into the scheduling.
Viewership will tank, it gets boring quick watching FFS.. Same w the Small mouth tourneys.
You kinda borderline hating……..
I really enjoyed watching DC, Wheeler and Birge catching them on FFS, especially when they show the graph on the screen!!
