  1. Well Randy your the one who wants to go back to the old way, and back in the day you hole jumped him. It’s ok if Randy makes a mistake. Remember Randy when you do something wrong years ago, and you’re the offender, you tend not to remember the details, especially as much as the victim would remember.

  2. If Byron was hacked off about this, then it would have been much better for him to discuss the situation immediately with Randy, than to not mention it for over 30 years and then go public that he had a problem. Not handled well by Byron. But he and Randy are two likeable guys who could have easily straightened it out in private many years ago.

  3. I’m sure you did nothing wrong. I guess I’m the only one who didn’t care for the guy anyway never did but Randy tell us about the win that you had on Tablerock I believe it was post spawn on table rock with a mega Bass crankbait

  4. First, sounds like Randy didn’t really hole jump. Byron shouldn’t have said anything about the spot to anyone. If he wanted to tell Randy, he should have done it AFTER the tournament was over. Second, not sure why he brought this story up, but Byron is a good guy. Like Randy, he has openly shared his fishing skills and tips with many amateur anglers and fans. To Randy I’d say don’t get your feelings hurt! To Byron I’d say don’t bring up crap from 30 yrs ago!

  5. Definitely some Tom foolery going on here😂. It was definitely Byron’s spot and if you seen he got an aluminum boat to get in there you and Roland shouldn’t have went in there.

  6. Hey Randy just watched the Velvick video. He ain’t no friend of yours he said you want more stories on you that’s another place and time. He’d throw you under the bus for kicks

  7. I fished that tournament. Drove from NY and never caught a fish in 6 days. I remember you told this story before. Don’t think Byron’s name came up, pretty sure you didn’t catch anything? At least he didn’t slap you, lol.

  8. Randy there’s something awesome about u man!! You’re truly a stand up guy. I just think it’s awful how ppl can be.. your a great person and god bless u man and your family

  9. Back in early 90’s I was fishing a BASS Invitational on Truman Lake out of Bucksaw. One of the days I saw Roland Martin fishing a bank. Never fished there during the tournament but you can bet I marked that spot on my paper map. Went back several times for several years after and never caught a fish.

  10. If that incident bothered him so much, why did he never mention it before? To bring it up now after years of silence is ridiculous. Furthermore, you guys didn't catch any good fish so it's not like you took anything away from him.

  11. Am thinking we would have heard this story from you if shoe on other foot. It would have been the tournament you could have won if u hadn't been hole jumped. You ask what we would have done. I would not have told a fellow competitor about another place a competitor is catching fish during a tournament. Guess we can chalk this up like u said being young and not communicating. Remember that next time ur bashing these young anglers.

  12. Sounds like you only knew there were fish in that lake because Byron asked you about it. You should have asked Byron that morning at launch if he was cool with you trying it. Even if he couldn't get in there, you hadn't been in there at all before that morning. Minor mistake. Treat others as treated. If you found a lake you couldn't get into it….. finally get in there and here comes Byron and Roland to catch all your fish. It's not gonna not have an effect.

  13. My guess is the issue is Roland. Roland was so powerful and influential back then, that a third day draw with newbie rookie Randy who heard you could catch a bass in lake Trout, Roland probably said Hell I can get a jon boat and some push poles Lets go cash a check. Randy is not going to find where Byron is camping in Leesburg or Tavares or Mount Dora and ask permission from Byron. Roland didn’t care. No one has caught any bass. There were no cell phones.

This brings up something I have always wondered. Why can’t the best bass anglers have a garage full of different boats for different lakes and tournaments? A regular Bass boat for most lakes, an aluminum boat for swamp lakes and a big center console boat for the Great Lakes? Money seems to be no object any longer.

  14. In hindsight telling him you're thinking about going in there with Roland if he can't get in there would have been a good idea. Then if he said to you at that point he's trying to get a boat to get in there in the morning then you would have known to not go in there. If it was me having not said anything to him and I was in there that third day and I saw him come in there I would have to leave because he's the one that told me about it in the first place. That's what I probably would have done. It's kind of messed up because by the time Roland gets a boat to get in there you guys have also got momentum to go in there and it's hard to back off of it when you had your hopes up about getting in there in such a drastically tough tournament. Even harder when you've got you and Roland both in there with the mindset to want to fish it. Now you and Roland both have to make up your mind to leave. It would have been easier if it was just one man's decision to decide to stay or leave without any awkward influence from a co-angler but with Roland having put forth some effort to get a boat to get in there I imagine it was a slow process to eventually come to the conclusion to just leave.

  15. Doesn’t really sound like a big deal he shouldn’t have said anything to you in the first place about it what would he say? If you told him how to get in there and then he would’ve won the tournament on your advice
