LBI Fishing Report 11/5/25 – Early November Update

This fishing report is brought to you by Captain Greg Cudnik at Fishermans Headquarters Bait & Tackle located at the entrance to Long Beach Island in Ship Bottom, NJ.

More fishable conditions the past couple of days have allowed anglers to get out and score. The fall striped bass bite is on along the Central Jersey coast is firing up with a variety of forage and a solid body of fish moving through. I got out both Monday afternoon/evening and Tuesday midday and had great fishing both on lures and live-lining bunker. We tagged some nice striped bass up to 46.5” – 37 lbs.

The bait situation has improved recently. Right now peanut, juvie and adult bunker are schooled up in addition to tinker mackerel, sand eels, rain bait and squid. There’s a few whales and birds working ’em with good size striped bass there too. It’s still slow but reports are becoming and more consistent from the LBI surf. The inlet remains productive with both tog and striped bass. Outside boat anglers are starting to catch. On Monday, we had a good report from Mike and Josh who trolled up two nice bass off of LBI. Action north of BI is also starting up with a body of fish sliding down into Ocean County waters this week.

Ocean “surf” water temps are in the mid-50’s (55-56º) and the Beaver Moon has ushered in the second wave of bass our way. Yes SECOND! If you haven’t been out (like me too until this week) you missed the first wave. Now’s the time to get out and fish — the fall run is happening!
