Laurel River Lake January 11th, 2025. A cold snowy day!

I refused to let the biggest winter storm we’ve had so far this year stop me from going fishing and making a video for you guys! Lol. You guys know that I obviously love Douglas and that I’ve recently been going to Lake Cumberland to improve my knowledge of it and learn to fish it better. I wanted to go to one of those lakes but I was leary of pulling a boat 50 or 100 miles in snow so I settled for the home pond. It turned out to be a decent day. I’m sure I could have caught more fish if I had went looking for a scoping bite on fish chasing bait balls, I will definitely be doing alot if that on this lake starting in a month or so, but as I’m sure y’all have noticed, I’ve been on a cranking obsession lately. 😂. The star bait of the day was a RK Crawler 55 by #laurelriverprolures in a custom color that I would describe as a river craw color. Brown back with an orange belly and a red tail. I’m not sure what color Shane calls it but I only had two in that color and when I lost both of them, the fish stopped playing with me. 😂. I’m getting ready to contact Shane and order more as we speak. A rocky channel swing bank with a little rocky point in the middle of it was the key on this day. The water temp was 44-45 degrees on the areas of the lake I was on. Last year, 45 was the coldest water I personally saw on this lake all winter. We’ve got some brutal cold days coming this next week so I’m sure its gonna drop to the high 30s or real low 40s.

I want to say a big thank you again to everybody for all of the support on my channel. It has really picked up over the last couple of weeks and I greatly appreciate that! I ask that you please keep subscribing, watching, and sharing! When I hit 1000 subscribers, I’m gonna do a giveaway on something better than a gift card. I’m thinking about a new reel and I’m sure Shane at Laurel River Pro will throw in another awesome crank bait! Thanks for watching, stay safe and God bless!

  1. Love your channel, esp since I too am a ky bass man, and also fish by myself 98% of the time on Nolin. Last day i fished, Jan 2. I haven't fished Laurel or Cumberland YET. If I'm coming up 192 going west, what and where is best ramp for me, and go what direction….Let's hook up sometime. and thanks, keep hooking.

  2. I haven't been on Laurel Lake, i bet, in 30 years. I remember it being deep and so clear in 50 feet you can see the bottom. Makes sense you would fish it in the winter the water would have some stain to it. Thanks for sharing the trip.

  3. Awesome man!, how was the ramp? I’ve only owned a boat for 1 1/2 yrs so I’ve not went while is bad weather. I was setting at home wishing I was fishing! That’s for taking me along for the ride!
