Late Afternoon Pier Fishing for SEA BASS with Green & White Gulp Baits – A fishing pier can be an excellent place to fish. That is probably why they are called fishing piers. I tried some pier fishing today it was fun. Jerry told me “use clams and #2 Gamakatsu Octopus hooks. You will catch everything in the late summer on a topping off tide.” I did not listen and used Gulp and 2/0 hooks. Lots of sea bass around to catch. I hear squid is a good bait for sea bass. Will have to try that. They are a cool fish. My hooks were too big for a blowfish today. I was told if you use smaller hooks they will catch a million blowfish. If you like to eat fish the blowfish are delicious. I hear they taste like chicken. Sea bass are delicious as well. I tried a sea bass once. It was delicious. I saw a dude catch his own bait with a net. That was awesome. I will have to get one that will be fun. I was wishing to catch a fluke today but they did not bite. I wish I had a net because I saw a lot of crabs float by. Last year I caught a keeper fluke and I was so happy I started jumping up and down yelling and screaming. I hear you can catch lots of fish on a fishing pier. Even big ones. I caught a sand shark once on a fishing pier. That was scary. Some guy told me he caught a big striped bass on another pier the other night. I asked “did you keep it?” He said “no.” I said “why not.” He said “I only practice catch and release.” I said “oh… OK.” Thats cool but if I caught a striped bass I would keep it. If it was a keeper of course. Maybe it was not a keeper? I didn’t ask. My friend caught a bunch of bluefish in the morning. So next time I am going to try fishing the pier in the morning. Fishing piers are so cool. I saw a blackfish. Some you can even fish at night. Others seem better in the day. Seems fish like piers, or do piers like fish?
