Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 9 Jun 2026 | Fishing report
We fished Lake of the Ozarks out of Shawnee Bend on 9 June 2026. We started at 0700 and wrapped up around 1450, giving us about 7 hours and 50 minutes on the water.
We ended the day with 44 total fish, 4 keepers, and 39.3 pounds of total fish weight. Our best five went 8.4 pounds. It was another really good numbers day, but we just did not get the bigger bites we were looking for.
We started around the Shawnee Bend launch area and picked up the first two fish on a white and chartreuse spinnerbait. After that, we moved into the Gravois around mile marker 1, and that is where the day really started to develop. Billy caught our first keeper of the day at 0835 on a white swimbait, and from there the swimbait became the main bait for the rest of the trip.
The white swimbait was clearly the bait of the day. It produced 36 of our 44 fish and all 4 keepers. It did not necessarily produce big bass, but if the goal was getting bites and catching fish, that was the bait they wanted. We were running short on the straight-tail Zoom Super Flukes, so we switched over to the paddle-tail versions, and they seemed to work just as well.
We also caught a few fish on a white chatterbait, bluegill jig, PBJ worm, and the white/chartreuse spinnerbait, but nothing came close to the swimbait bite. Most of our fish came around the bank and breakwater areas, with a few mixed in around other targets. We also finally logged one fish on a brush pile, so that checks one more thing off our to-do list.
Location-wise, the color coding helped show the moves we made during the day. Green was the launch area, then we moved into the Gravois, and later ran back out to the main lake around mile marker 9 to 10. The keepers came from both areas, with keepers 3 and 16 in the Gravois and keepers 20 and 22 on the main lake.
The bite stayed steady enough that we kept catching fish throughout the day, but the size was harder to find. Our best fish was a 2.56-pounder caught by Billy on the white swimbait, and we had a couple more solid keepers mixed in.
Overall, it was a fun day and another strong numbers trip. The biggest takeaway was simple: the white swimbait was the deal. It caught fish on the bank, around breakwater, and in multiple areas of the lake. Now we just need to find the same bite with a few bigger bass mixed in.
