Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 7 Sep 2026 | Fishing report

We launched out of LORA on Lake of the Ozarks for a practice day ahead of our upcoming tournament on 12 September.

We fished from 0700 to 1500 with 87-degree water, stained water, partly cloudy skies, and a light east wind. We caught around 25 to 30 total fish, but most of them were small, so for this video we focused on the keeper bites.

The final keeper total was 4 fish for 7.2 pounds. All four keepers came on a 5-inch PBJ worm along the bank, with the biggest bass weighing 2.34 pounds.

This was a tough practice day. We started outside the Glaize and worked toward mile marker 15, fishing rocky banks with a Whopper Plopper, creature baits, and worms. We also tried coves and docks, but neither produced the keeper bites we needed. The swimbait dock bite was not effective, and even Pa He Tsi Cove did not help much this time.

The morning topwater popper in Sexy Shad caught fish, but the better keeper bites did not show up until much later. It took almost 5 and a half hours to catch the first keeper.

The bluff banks finally gave us something to work with late in the day, but we will need a much better bag if we are going to be competitive on Saturday.

Topwater popper caught smaller fish early
Docks were not productive
Coves did not produce for us
