Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 6 Oct 2026 | Fishing report
Never Pass Up a Buoy! | 33 Bass & 5 Keepers | Lake of the Ozarks | October 6, 2026
“Never pass up a buoy!” I barely got those words out before a bass hit my Whopper Plopper. You couldn’t script that timing! 😂
Billy and I were back at Lake of the Ozarks, launching from LORA for another day of fall bass fishing. This video includes both of our first fish, including Billy’s introduction to a productive new worm color: a 5-inch Yamamoto Senko in dark green pumpkin/amber.
The worms kept us catching fish along the banks, but white swimbaits around boat docks and breakwaters delivered the keepers. We finished with 33 bass and an 11.4-pound five-fish bag, anchored by my 3-pound largemouth!
🎣 TRIP CONDITIONS & RESULTS
• Date: October 6, 2026
• Location: Lake of the Ozarks, launching from LORA
• Time on the water: 8:39 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• Duration: 5 hours, 21 minutes
• Water temperature: 72°F
• Air temperature: 47–82°F
• Sky: Clear blue skies
• Wind: South at 0–7 mph
• Water: Stained
• Total bass: 33
• Keepers: 5
• Five-fish bag: 11.4 pounds
• Biggest bass: Mark’s 3.00-pound, 19-inch largemouth
🎣 WHAT WORKED
• White swimbait: 20 bass, including all 5 keepers. Thirteen fish came from boat docks and seven from breakwaters.
• 5-inch dark green pumpkin/amber Yamamoto Senko: 8 bass along the banks.
• 5-inch green pumpkin/watermelon worm: 2 bass.
• 5-inch PBJ worm: 2 bass.
• Small black Whopper Plopper: 1 bass beside a buoy, right on cue!
Billy’s first fish gave us a reason to keep trying the new Senko color, and we both caught fish on it. But the white swimbait was the standout, accounting for more than half our catches and every keeper.
The dock bite picked up late in the morning. My 3-pounder came at 11:18 a.m., followed by a busy stretch with seven bass between 11:31 and 11:50.
Then the breakwater bite delivered! Between 12:17 and 12:42, we caught four keepers weighing 1.71, 2.55, 1.98, and 2.12 pounds. Two of those came just one minute apart. That 25-minute stretch filled out our five-fish bag.
Enjoy the first-fish laughs, keeper highlights, and another day of figuring out what the bass wanted!
