Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 19 Jun 2026 | Fishing report
We fished Lake of the Ozarks out of Shawnee Bend on 19 June 2026. We started at 0632 and wrapped up around 1400, giving us about 7 hours and 28 minutes on the water.
It turned into a really good day. We finished with 38 total fish, 10 keepers, and 37.4 pounds of total fish weight. Our best five went 10.7 pounds, and my last keeper of the day ended up being the big bass of the day at 2.76 pounds.
The big story from this trip was that we found a pattern that worked. The best areas were bluff walls on channel swings leading into coves, along with boat docks just inside the coves. Once we figured that out, we were able to stay around fish and keep bites coming throughout the day.
The bait of the day was the 5-inch wacky worm in PBJ. It produced 25 of our 38 fish and 8 of our 10 keepers, so it was clearly the main deal. Around boat docks, the best presentation was to cast it in and just let it sink. On the banks, especially around those bluff walls and channel swing areas, the key was letting it get to the bottom and sit. The fish were not chasing everything, but they would eat that PBJ worm if we slowed down and kept it in front of them.
We were a little surprised that the white swimbait did not work better today. That bait has been really good for us recently, but it only produced one fish this trip. Jigs and Texas-rigged worms also did not do much. We tried several things, but the wacky worm was by far the best producer.
We did have one really fun highlight that came on a Zoom Brush Hog in green watermelon orange. I had a fish chase it all the way to the boat and hit it right as I was pulling the bait out of the water, but it missed. I threw it back in and swam it around, and the bass chased it again and missed again. I threw it back a third time, swam it around again, and that time he finally ate the hook. That was also when Billy and I doubled up, so that was definitely one of the best moments of the day.
Billy started the day strong with a 2.24-pound keeper on the PBJ worm right out of the gate. We caught fish on the bank early, then started picking up more around boat docks as the day developed. Later in the day, the PBJ worm kept producing, including several more keepers and the big bass at the end.
Location-wise, the bank and boat docks carried the day. We had 20 fish from the bank and 14 fish from boat docks, with a couple mixed in offshore, one on a buoy, and one around breakwater. The boat dock bite was important, but the overall pattern still seemed tied to those channel-swing areas leading into coves.
Overall, this was one of our better fishing days of the year. We caught good numbers, had a strong keeper count, and finally locked onto a pattern that made sense. The biggest takeaway was simple: bluff walls on channel swings leading into coves, boat docks just inside the coves, and a PBJ wacky worm fished slow.
