I went up to East Harbor off of Lake Erie for the TAKAL (Toledo Area Kayak Anglers League) charity tournament benefitting the Adopt America Network where I finished about middle of the field, but I think it is important that our sport gives back to the community and I try to support those events whenever I can! While I do have some experience on East Harbor, I was going into this one with no practice or pre-fishing so I had to rely on history and hope things hadn’t changed too much since the last time I was there. This was the earliest I had ever been there and the hydrilla hadn’t grown in yet, but I found something that looks like curly-leaf pondweed that was holding a clump of 15″ bass and got off to a great start getting my 3-fish limit in under 15 minutes of fishing, then I went looking for upgrades!

Thanks to TAKAL for doing good things for the community and for organizing a fun tournament!
They are a “human powered” kayak group (no motors) with really nice people if you are in the Toledo, Ohio area and want to give it a try. Check them out on facebook:

Thanks to Strictly Sail & Kayak for my amazing Hobie Lynx kayak and for always being such big supporters of our kayak angling groups! Check them out at their brick-and-mortar location in Cincinnati or online: https://strictlysailinc.com

This tournament was the start of a week of vacation I spent up at East Harbor State Park Campground and I got out on the water almost every day practicing my electronics and learning East Harbor better for future tournaments. The videos will be posting on my GirlGoneFishing channel as I get them edited so subscribe so you don’t miss any of the fun!
