They got a bunch of flatheads down there too as they call them yellow cats
Smallmouth destroy ned rigs. Tubes, jigs, pretty much anything that could be a minnow or crawfish. Also, smallies like to sit in water with current. Sometimes the big ones will be sitting right where you least expect 'em.
I'm going down to northern Arkansas from wisconsin at the end of the month to visit my 2 older step children and go fishing with them
