Kayak Bass Fishing Davidson Lake – Clear Water with Grass and Lily Pads – Kings Mountain, NC

It shouldn’t have been this tough…but it was. On this episode, I ventured to Kings Mountain, NC to fish Davidson Lake. The good part is that it looks like a really cool lake that has the potential to hold big fish. The bad part is that it’s a clear water lake with lots of grass and lily pads which is a type of fishing that I don’t have much exposure to. I didn’t leave empty-handed, but my less-than-stellar performance will warrant future trips…

  1. I'm doing real well down here in Florida, in grassy lakes with texas rigged plastic worms with very light weights, or sometimes no weight. Working the worm in a slow motion jerk bait style, jerking them thru the grass. Works well most of the time.

  2. I love fishing clear water! My old home lake was crystal clear, 15-20' vis. The clear water, you need to make the longest casts as accurate as you can. They see you coming way before you could see them! Use natural colors. You can use bright colors or loud reaction baits but you need to fish really really fast! You don't want them to get a good look because they can see so good. Also fish areas where the depth change turns that blue or green color basically right where you can see the bottom anymore. That transition was also a ambush point from my experience
