I actually used to fish Spawning females when in Tourney's but have stopped that practice,the females will always go back to the site but I also believe it stresses them out more then we know and may have other effects as well.
And if people keep fishing for them during the spawn (which basically all serious bass fisherman do) that can hurt the fish too. I hate it when people fish for spawning bass.
only a true fishermen understands catch and release,most large bass over 4lbs are female and if everyone kept the big ones there would be no fishery,hence no spawn.
Why you let the fish go to me the whole point of fishing is to take the price home with me obviously I haven't cought one like that that's why I'm saying this lol
