S1:E21 My first time fishing Lake Barrett in San Diego for some late-summer kayak bass fishing! I launched early and started off throwing a buzzbait over submerged grass and rocky points — the fish were active and crushing it, but I just couldn’t get one to stick. After a few close calls, I made a switch to a jig, and that completely changed the day. The jig bite fired up, and I finally started putting fish in the kayak.

Lake Barrett is a unique, permit-only fishery known for clear water, big largemouth, and heavy cover. This trip gave me a taste of how special this lake really is — explosive topwater bites, chunky jig fish, and that beautiful SoCal scenery.
