My Profile:

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. I've been 'stroking' a hard head jig for years. I use a (Perfection or Big Texan) Pit Boss, almost exclusively, on the 11/16oz size and work it in high, fast hops, lifting it 3 or 4 feet off the bottom at a time. It elicits some vicious strikes in the early spring.

  2. Hey Matt, great video! I’m a long time believer in the swing head jigs. I remember when this was DL jig for Tommy Biffle. I’m sure you remember when he won at LaCrosse with it and the biffle bug. I’ve been “hooked” on the swing head for years now. I have a few custom variations that I think you might appreciate – skirted, spy, chatter and football etc. on a 3/0-5/0 swim hook.
Since you mentioned changing hooks, I think you would really appreciate the convenience my jigs offer. They aren’t tungsten, but most are designed to be swim jigs. If it sounds like something you might be interested in, I’d be glad to send you a few to try. On your suggestion, I recently bought some hover jigs. Looking forward to trying them out this spring. I appreciate your channel and it’s become favorite. Keep up the good work. Oh, and I love your tackle wall too!!!

  3. Do love the lipless, although your point of moving out of the strike zone makes really good sense. Wondering, what would be your go to blank for ripping a trap through hydrilla? And thanks for another great vid!

  4. I’ve used Picasso for many years and love the Tungsten swing heads, and also Beast Coast and Gamakatsu ringed hooks👍 I love your tips and techniques and I caught a nice 4.77 largemouth in my tournament yesterday on the Keitech Casting jig 2.0 with the rubber/ silicone skirt. I bought a ton of them a few years back when they were $2.50😃 I now need to restock 😮

  5. I feel like I'm fishing for the same fish that I would throw a Carolina rig and football jig for with a swing head but I have seen it on Toledo and Rayburn where they will eat this so much better at times. I've also played around with a heavy Tokyo rig fishing it just like a swing head and had a little bit better luck with the fish actually getting the bait better. I can only assume it's because the bait and hook is higher off the bottom but I really don't know. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

  6. 🍺Thanks Matt. I have been fishing the Picasso Tungsten wobble heads even before you were sponsored by them👍. They work very well and are very versatile as you mention. I personally go to them during the summer when I’m fishing with large worms deep. They certainly cast a mile and you can cover lots of deep water fast🤠.

  7. In the words of Elmer Fudd “be quiet, be very quiet we’re hunting wabbits (bass)”. The best gun in the spring on the end of a rod in the back of the boat, and Matt just gave it to ya!! I’m sure glad most people’s memory is just about a week in America today, otherwise I’d see more of this bait tied on. Matt give good info guys, but he does keep some things quiet. Cause some things you just gotta figure out, like how to fish the lures on a wobble head that he just told you about!! 😁👍💯

  8. VMC has a swing head with a 1/0 hook and light weight. Ordered some to try with a BFS bait cast combo. Pefect size for a zoom fluke jr or ned bait. Reins released a baby craw that's good with a 1/0 hook as well. Bite size presentation.

  9. During the summer last year I put a keitech on a 1/2 oz one and used that a lot. Just a slow trodge back to the bank. Worked really well. In the fall I switched up to a 1/4 oz and put a fluke on it and hopped it back to shore fairly quickly and that worked well too. Definitely an underrated setup.

  10. Thanks again. I caught a largemouth today on one of my walleye and smallmouth lures. My girl said you left some lures out when I closed my box and I said I have a feeling that those may work but I was shocked pulling in a largemouth on those orange back minnows

  11. Hay hope you had a good showing at bassmaster classic expo . Did Johnny behave not get Randy upset talking up live scope? Hope to see you at table rock or lake of Ozarks next fall .😮

  12. I like the wobble head, i neverthought of the split ring before, but I'm really excited about my newly acquired red Ozark Rigs. It was cool seeing you, and the rest of the Core crew, in person yesterday. I love what you guys are doing.
