Is This FB Marketplace Kayak Worth It?

After selling several of my kayaks I was watching one on Facebook and bought it for what I thought was a good price. The old town 106 minn kota motorized kayak looked to be a really good purchase.

  1. Looks like you did pretty well with the FB new-to-you Yak. When you're hitting lakes or rivers and creeks sure makes exploring a bit easier. I've got a 2 man boat and we switched to lithium for weight consideration. When they're done it's just like new power tool batteries. Kaput. Blessings brother

  2. Sorry to see you ran out of battery power. This kayak is hard to paddle
The minnkota motor should be a 45bl thrust. Better Luck next time.
Hey, you still caught fish. Not a bad day

  3. Great video and a nice kayak one good thing about it john you have paddle kayaks for a long time and I really hope are able get it back going very soon it will a get help to you in tournament's

  4. Looks like a great rig. You might do better with a longer paddle for the emergency power backup due to the width of kayak. Going against the wind in colder weather can drain battery faster but probably not that much.

  5. You should definitely get a Bluetooth battery. I have a Li-Time 100AH that I got at the end of last season for $189. I believe they’ve gone back up though. It has an app so you can monitor battery life in real time.

  6. The breath of God’s angels was bringing you home brother thank you for your videos and the effort you put in them brings us peace and love for creek and river fishing. Tight lines take care and God bless.

  7. Congratulations on the yak. I live in Cleveland as well. I have a hobie outback for a pedal drive one. I just picked up a 2024 Old Town 136 AP for 3k. No battery. I went with a LiTime one. So far so good, plus I can see my battery life on my phone.

  8. Brother John, you have come a long way my friend 👏 I remember when you only had about 10k subs. You've really been Blessed 🙏 and you definitely deserve all the great blessings from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ 🙏✝️🛐🙌

  9. John, a little advice from an Old Town 106MK owner. After I finish fishing, I unload everything from my kayak before loading. Battery, Motor, Fishing Poles, all storage in the rear compartment. It makes a world of difference in the weight of the kayak when loading.

  10. I was going to get that same yak but found a great deal on an AP 120 and I’m so glad I did. That’s only thing bad about not having Bluetooth on your battery you can’t check it. They all should come that way nowadays.

  11. I’ve always been intrigued by this kayak. I own the EPDL and love it. I also had an autopilot 136, but I rarely used spot lock. I mostly keep the motor straight and steered with the foot pedals. So the 106mk would work. I absolutely love the epdl though. I have gone 13 miles in it, 95% of that was level 5 unassisted. I wanted to see how far it would go and I still had battery left. Good video, thanks.

  12. That's how those lithium batteries do. A lead acid battery will bog down and give you clues that it's dying. A Lithium hits that threshold where the voltage dips too low and the PCB will cut all power to save the battery from over discharging.

  13. I wish i could have a chance to fiah with you one day you're the only true fishing channel i look at all the time ever since around 2017 if i remember correctly creek fishing is all i like

  14. Old towns are great stable kayaks. I would say it was worth it. I have the AP120 and it’s a fishing machine. I use the Amped Outdoors 100ah lithium battery, it runs all day and this will be my fifth year with that battery.

  15. John, the porn bots are invading your channel, I reported 4, I think. Please to all watchers, report when you see them. Sad to see them on a very wholesome channel. 😪

  16. I hope you just need a new battery. I have a 100a/hour lipo4 on a 30 lb motor on my Brooklyn. Running upstream against a pretty strong river current can kill it in just a few miles. That’s why I always go upstream in a river 😉
So maybe the stiff wind affected your battery time too.

  17. Great video! Sorry to hear of your battery trouble. Have you considered dry testing the battery by charging it and running it in your garage until the battery dies to see the run time? If it only gives 3 hrs of run time in the garage with a full charge, you'll know it's time for a new battery. Good luck!
