  1. None of these organizations are ever going to open their books for us to see so we can only speculate. What we do know is; tournament bass fishing will never be a traditional spectator's sport for several obvious reasons. What we also know is; BASS has been the undisputed king of all bass tournament fishing circuits for more than five decades and they have been sold repeatedly. We also know the Red Man circuit and the FLW circuit has been sold. What we can conclude is; there is not a good return on investment on owning and operating a "professional level" bass fishing circuit. For as long as there have been tournaments, tournament anglers that fish them suggest the tournament organizations are greedy and keep too much of the entry fees for profit. NEWS FLASH; no one is going to go through the trouble and expense of running a tournament circuit just because anglers want to fish them! MLF had a business plan and convinced several big investors like Kroenke Sports to come on board based on inflated audience projections. Kroenke left and likely other investors and sponsors have too which suggests the projected audiences and profits weren't there. Even if a business can keep their financial head above water, they can still qualify as being in financial trouble if their efforts aren't worth their return. One of the main reasons fishermen have followed tournaments is to improve their knowledge of fishing, but now with YouTube you can search out exactly what element of your fishing you want to learn about. You can focus on; techniques, specific lakes, specific tackle, how to make your own tackle, etc… And watching YouTube on your living room television is much more convenient than tuning into BASS's or MLF's streaming sites and viewing on a smaller device. I would guess Chase Anderson and Boyd Duckett have both wished they hadn't ever invested in tournament bass fishing and both will get out once their personal finances are threatened too much.

  2. I said this a while ago, they are hurting financially , maybe not broke but Def not making the money back that's being put into the business, businesses are supposed to make money

  3. If MLF is in financial trouble, they brought it on themselves. I was all for MLF and the catch-weigh-release format. I was excited to watch it. BUT, they made it hard to access (their website, not YouTube), they made following the progression of the season confusing, and they kept changing format constantly. I wanted to be a fan, I wanted to follow it, but their greed and desperate desire to be "different" from BASS is their undoing.

  4. I think MLF is ok financially, probably even better than BASS. However I am thinking both are pumping too much money (and sucking away money from the maiin top draw) by sponsoring all of these ridiculously large HS and college tours. The good hungry anglers will make it to their top tier level without these.
