  1. I have purchased used gear from both American Legacy & Facebook Marketplace with pretty good results. The 2 Tatula’s I have bought from American Legacy (coincidentally both the older & newer Tatula 100) have been fine, but a nearly new Tatula CT I bought off FB was pretty dry. Overall I think if you do your homework or buy from a reputable retailer you usually get the best results (American Legacy has awesome customer service).

  2. I have to say that i do not buy any secondhand fishing reels purely because i have 10 "thumbs". I am technologically handicapped, thus i rather stick to teaching and my best friend fixing and servicing my reels.

  3. I've bought a few used slx xt's and a slx dc off ebay in the past and they felt like new after a little maintenance. One of my newer tatula sv's has also developed a slight ticking in it, taken it apart and cleaned it multiple times and still can't narrow down the issue

  4. I have no problem buying something used, but it does help seeing them first as it's a good time to see defects which could help lower the price. I've bought a few pew pews used and have had no issues with them so a piece of fishing gear is nothing.

  5. I oil the bearings with a silicon oil and grease the shaft with waterproof grease. I only buy new reels but used rods are easier to inspect and see defects. I have sold my reels but go the extra distance: I keep the og boxes and save the receipts. None of mine have ceramic bearings.

  6. Looking forward to the reel breakfown videos, i got sand in my curado i think and it feels kinda grainy when i reel and im absolutely terrified to touch a single screw.

  7. Bought my first Daiwa (TTU100HSL) basically from watching your videos. I am up in Canada and baitcasters are not all that common, so I watched a bunch of your videos before spending the money. Mine was dry out of the box aswell, but I bought oil thanks to you mentioning it in your past videos. Since then I have bought 2 other Reels and 1 was dry also and the other was good, and it came with oil too. Maintence just ads a bit more fun to the hobby for me, keep up the informative videos!

  8. I have two Tatula 150s that I bought about a month apart brand new. One of them sounds just like that and one doesn’t. The noise started on the second trip and it is getting worse so I stopped using it.

  9. Thanks for ripping into that Daiwa. Cinderella toothbrush for cleaning = non dink feesh! Thanks Debo! Put that type of bearing on my abu stx, made it crazy easier to cast but sounded louder. I’ll take the slightly louder sound to improve casting pleasure especially on my abu stx. Hope family and you have a great turkey day!

  10. Just want to let you know that your fishing channel is one the most informative channels out there. I’ve followed you since you were at 5000 subscribers and will follow you until you decide to end the channel . Great video as always!!

  11. I bought two Shimano 2015 Metanium DCs for $200 including shipping from Japan and sales tax. I sent them off to Shimano for servicing and they charged $43.50 per reel. Still way ahead of the new price. Yeah, they have some scrapes and chips, but so do reels I bought new after 3 months of use.

  12. If you get tired of chasing that playing card in the spokes Daiwa reel, I’d gladly give it a home. I’ve yet to try a Daiwa baitcaster. None of the local stores have them. Just really abu and lews around me.

  13. 99.9% of my gear including lures and soft plastics have been off of market place I've made 7+ hour round trips to get gear

I forgot to mention give the brake cup a full turn and let go of it so it retracts fast a friend had a cup sitting offset in the side plate also check the Pawl same friend had a fuego he never serviced

On a side note I've gone fishing and became friends with four people off of market place

  14. I bought a curado k used from American legacy, the thumb bar was broke, I returned it right away, they gave me my money back no hassle, customer service was great, but I probably wouldn’t by used gear again.

  15. Be sure to check the rotary girder! It could need recombobulated. Used gear always scares me but have gotten lucky with a few items. Anxious to see what the remedy ends up being.

  16. I buy used fishing gear quite a bit. I haven't had many problems. I did buy a new 13 fishing baitcaster 3 months ago . It scratched from day one. I send back the reel and they fixed the problem. Great customer service. Fish on Debo catch you Saturday night.

  17. Hopefully you find the cause of the ticking in the Tatula 70. Put light pressure on the spool see if you can replicate the ticking or noise. This way you can diagnose the problem at home. If the reel sounds normal when you make as cast but makes a ticking sound when you retrieve. Check that pinion bearing like you would a spool bearing. Check the rotation with some pressure. It should feel smooth.
