Is Bass Fishing In Mexico Worth It?

We headed to Mexico’s Lake Baccarac to find out if Mexico fishing is as good as they say. From the flight to the meals to the fishing, it was top notch all the way! If you’ve ever wondered if bass fishing in Mexico is worth the trip, check this out…

When we travel we pride ourselves on fishing without outside help, approaching lakes the same way we do at home. It took a bit of work but we were able to get out on the water unguided and truly explore it for ourselves. We were amazed by the quality and quantity of fish, as well as the incredible amount of Tilapia and shad in the lake. The fishery is as healthy as any we have in the states. We felt safe the entire time, despite fishing alone in a foreign country.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and tackle we were using, as well as a link to the lodge in case you want to try your hand at catching a big bass in Mexico. One of our favorite parts of the trip is that you didn’t have to use a specific bait to catch fish. We brought a variety of confidence baits and caught fish on nearly all of them!

To answer the question: Yes, fishing in Mexico is worth it! We had an amazing time and will definitely do it again!

  1. Not sure why you keep sticking your hand into the mouth of a fish with a few treble hooks in its mouth .
But it’s flirting with a painful experience

  2. I remember my Father catching monsters in north Baja. And yeah, I also remember the goats 🐐 on the shoreline. Hope you guys head down to México soon again. 🇺🇸🇲🇽❤️

  3. I've been coming to watch this video every since you guys released it. This motivates me more than any football highlight tape or song ever made. So many nice bass and Matt I feel your pain Everytime I watch the video and see you lose that giant on the jig. I try and do the same and not flip big fish to prevent enormous hook holes and shock to the fish but man she would have gotten boat flipped clean in the live well😂🎣. P.S I think y'all need to go back Mexico again

  4. I live in Mexico. I'm a Mexican citizen, and I'm planning a vacation to Mazatlan and would like to visit for a day Lake El Salto and would love to fish at the lake from shore using my own equipment.

Could I do that? Also, is there a charge even if angler just wants to fish from shore on his own using his own equipment???  From my understanding…you don't need to get a fishing license like you do in the USA, right?  I'm sure the locals there get to fish on that lake or is it a private lake? Does someone own El Salto Lake & Lake Baccarac or is it a national park where it's open to the public like the places in USA ????

  5. Matt/Tim…Looking forward to hosting you guys again soon! Thanks for fishing with us! Pro Bass Adventures – Lake Baccarac & Lake El Salto.  Get your Bass down here!!!
