I’m Going to Fish like Randy Blaukat – NO MORE LiveScope

I want to get back to my bass fishing roots. Anglers like Randy Blaukat of @randyblaukatintuitive are totally against things like LiveScope and Lowrance FFS and believe it shouldn’t be allowed in the tournament scene. I don’t agree but I would like to try fishing more without sonar and get back to nature a bit. So I decided to visit Jackson Kayak to look into kayak fishing and set up a simple boat for fishing.

  1. My boat hates my kayak, because she sits in the garage ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ข. Getting into big bass on a kayak platform is so much fun, youโ€™ll enjoy it. Bring you lower end gear strap things down, get a phone tether and please wear your PFD. Enjoy!

  2. I have my Pelican Bass Raider that I love! It fits in the back of my truck, but I've got swivel seats, plenty of tackle storage, and a trolling motor that scoots me around really good. My knees and back are just too old for jon boats and kayaks anymore, lol!

  3. Randy has a solid opinion, but it is a tool, bass fishing will always have an advantage for shallow fishing and or flipping no matter what so he can suck it, try harder๐Ÿ”ฅ

  4. Dude I like Randy, never underestimate the knowledge of the old timer! That being said itโ€™s like everything else, just do what works for you, now days everybodyโ€™s got an opinion and itโ€™s easy to put it out there on the socials! At one point someone thought the bait caster was cheatingโ€ฆโ€ฆprobablyโ€ฆ..๐ŸŽฃ

  5. It's kindnof funny when you hear people who's probably never used livescope to catch fish say it's cheating… like if you have it you go catch a bag every time you hit the water. LOL It's not magic you still have to find bass then figure out how to make them bite and it's not like when you see fish on ffs it tells you this is bass cast this specific bait here to catch them.

  6. I would be bored and scared…..Wait till you encounter a Gator and Water Moccasin……I live in Crystal River in the 80's…Still don't forget them…Especially at Lake Russeau & on the Withlacoochee River

  7. Power Pole makes a key FOB unit specifically for yaks. Pretty easy to float into something while landing a fish which can dump you out of the yak into a potentially dangerous, submerged/emerged laydown. Lots of YT content to learn from, too. 10:55

  8. Back to the roots. Sweet. Next thing will be you and Bog in a 12ft jon with a 9.9hp 4 stroke, just 2 or 3 rods, and a small tackle bag casting Rapala minnows on 6lb test for those early morning bass. It's all about the fish, not the technology. Enjoy yourself, enjoy the sport, and give Bog a big ole kiss for me. Rock on…

  9. Anchor trolley, short handled net for landing bigs, rod holder with gear trax, milk crate for accessories and tackle trays, milk crate rod holders are dope too. And cheap!!!

  10. My pa12 has 360 drive with kick up fins. The kick upt are a must! I didn't realize Jackson drove had that kick up feature on their drives!? That's awesome & those look like nice yaks for sure!

  11. Definitely want a pedal drive! If you're gonna get a trolling motor, save a lot of $ & don't get a pedal drive kayak. Just get a super stable sit on top & get best trolling motor you can afford. I don't understand why guys buy super exspensive pedal drive kayaks then put a trolling motor on it? Maybe thier not in good enough shape to pedal all day or lazy? Either way you can peddle faster than most trolling motors anyway..

  12. Only way I fished past 9+ years in in my kayaks. I've always hade nice Hobie PA12'S but I started with a used one. Fished it for 7 years. Sold it for same price I paid for it, out that $ towards my PA12-360. I don't run a trolling motor, I can pedal all day multiple days in a row no problem. You will love kayak fishing. you can't cover as much water but that's why you do your research on Google Earth & launch close to area you wanna fish. I personally believe there's advantages fishing from the yak, like stealth. Your way more quiet, less presence in the water, create smaller shadows & can get places big boats can't! To each their own but I'll stick with my kayak over a boat. Past 2 months I've caught a
9lb 3 oz, a 8lb 6oz, 7lb 4 oz, a 5.10, 5.8, & multiple 4's! All on big swimbaits, big worm's , & some frogging. All in my kayak. Been an incredible summer for me, really really trying hard break that double digit still, almost got there Sunday with that 9.3 she was pulling me pretty hard 26" long 16.5" in girth & my current PB largemouth. Good luck with the yak's!!!

  13. Are there conditions when FFS is useless? Anybody? (from an Idaho river fisherman who uses older Lowrance 2D system mostly to monitor depth and temp)

  14. Kayak fishing now?! Let's goooo! I need another kayak fishing channel to live vicariously through since I can't be bothered to take mine out. Haven't got mine out in over 3 years.
