I Should Have Fished This Rig Years Ago!

The Jika Rig (Jig Rig) might be one of the most versatile bass fishing rigs you’ve never tried! In this video, I put this simple but incredibly effective rig to the test—and the bass absolutely loved it. 🎣

The Jika Rig, also called a Jig Rig, Jika Rig, Zika Rig, or Gika Rig, is an extremely versatile bottom-fishing presentation that can be used in just about any depth—from shallow water to 40+ feet.

I’m using multiple baits on a 1/4 oz Jika Rig, and the results speak for themselves. I catch multiple bass while showing exactly how I fish this rig, where I look for bites, and why this simple setup is so effective.

One of the things I really like about the Jika Rig is how easily you can change the presentation. You can:

🎣 Drag it along the bottom
🎣 Hop or stroke it like a jig
🎣 Pitch it into weeds and cover
🎣 Fish it around rocks, wood, and vegetation
🎣 Use it in shallow or deep water
🎣 Experiment with tubes, craws, creature baits, and toad-style baits

My favorite technique in this video: I cast it out, let it reach bottom, and then drag it until I feel cover. Once I hit rocks, wood, weeds, or other structure, I slow the rig down and carefully work the area. That’s where I’m getting most of my bites.

And this is just the beginning. I have a bunch of different baits I want to experiment with on the Jika Rig/Jig Rig, including craws, creature baits, and other finesse presentations.
