I managed to catch two pompano keepers on over crowded rainy Sunday in skyway south pier#pompano

I was thinking of going home early when I saw that crowd this morning. I thought I won’t be able to catch a single pompano today. After maybe 30 minutes of jigging, to my surprise I caught my first keeper of the day. Almost 12 inches. Exactly on the same spot where I caught my 1st keeper, maybe after an hour later, I caught my 2nd keeper of the day. Almost 11 and ½ inches.

It started raining heavily with thunderstorm and lightning for maybe an hour. After the rain it stop briefly and started raining again but not that heavy that I was able to jig again. The water was calm and quiet but pompanos also went calm and quiet. Not a single pompano bite after that heavy rain. I decided to call it a day around 4:30PM. I went home soak and wet.
