Tips N Tricks

I Fished with the Bill Lewis Hammer Trap! Wow!! #fishing #bassfishing #lurefishing

This lipless crankbait is special! I almost did not want to share how amazing this bait is but I wanted y’all to get as much out if it as I did.
To catch bass using a lipless crankbait or rattletrap, you can follow these tips:

1. **Choose the Right Color**: Select a color that matches the water clarity. In clear water, opt for natural colors like silver or shad patterns. In murky water, go for bold and bright colors that stand out.

2. **Vary Retrieval Speed**: Experiment with retrieval speeds. Sometimes bass prefer a fast retrieve, while other times a slower, stop-and-go approach works better.

3. **Use a Jerking Motion**: Jerk the rod tip up and then reel down the slack. This action can mimic a wounded baitfish, enticing bass to strike.

4. **Target Structure**: Cast near underwater structure like weed beds, rocks, or drop-offs where bass tend to hide. The erratic action of the bait can trigger a reaction bite.

5. **Fish in Different Depths**: Lipless crankbaits can be effective at different depths. Let the lure sink to different levels and vary your retrieval to find where the bass are holding.

6. **Fish During Active Times**: Bass are more likely to strike during low-light conditions or when the water temperature is favorable for feeding. Early morning, late afternoon, or cloudy days can be ideal.

7. **Pay Attention to the Feel**: Since lipless crankbaits are often used as reaction baits, pay attention to any changes in the feel of the lure. A sudden stop or change in movement can signal a bass has struck.

Remember, fishing success can vary based on the specific conditions of the water you’re fishing in, so it’s always good to adapt your tactics accordingly.
