  1. After I learned how to tie a couple floro knots, have not had an issue in over 20 yrs. The knot you tie is the most important part most knots used for mono and braid will not work for floro because those knots cut into the line which is floro’s kryptonite. And the line has to be lubricated at the knot. Floro works better for me. I also only ever use Sunline. I have had problems with a couple other popular companies.

  2. Bass Pro Shops Excel Mono out performs any other mono or Fluoro on the market. I've tried many. Fluro is too brittle imo. The stretch/give in mono keeps you from snapping lines AND pulling the hooks out of barely hooked fish that happens with mono and braid.
    Used them and went back.

  3. P-line tactical is outrageous. I’ve never once broken off in open water. Ive only broken off p-line tactical around the nastiest timber. Amazing strength as leader material as well. Whether it’s 10lb of 25lb I love it all.

  4. Caught a 51.75 inch pike on 8lb trilene xl (its super cheap)…with 8inch black steel leader…. never had a problem with trilene… and the fish don't care what your line is… to many people getting sucked into all this expensive crap… been fishing 50 years and laugh at everyone fishing with telephone wire (10lb +) for most inland fish. I fish big walleye/pike/rainbow/brookies/burbot/lakers/bass and almost never use line heavier than 10lb… in most cases i use 4-6lb… learn to fish light line and i bet you will quickly notice you catch a lot more fish and forget about all the crap they try to sell us these days..

  5. Fellas, fluorocarbon is much better than monofilament for cranking and finesse fishing. It’s not even close. I’ll take 10 pound fluorocarbon over 12 pound monofilament for cranking anyway. After 2 hours of cranking with monofilament, your line will be stretched out and it’ll start knotting up and bird eating anytime you put slack in it. Idk where these guys get that mono and fluorocarbon are almost the same?? They are very different.

  6. I use 15lb big game but the low-vis green. I have a theory that the colorant/dyes make the line a bit stiffer than the clear. I throw big hard swimbaits up to 4 oz on 15lb big game with absolutely 0 issues. Flouro is a frigging nightmare

  7. Not to mention that I’ve had many spools of even higher end fluoro and I don’t believe it to be consistent always. It always feels like it’s breaking at different strengths. I think it has a shorter shelf life than mono or copoly. I think fluoro gets too brittle in the cold and breaks at a different rate. I now only use it 2# for finicky trout and panfish.

  8. Never a fluorocarbon from day 1 ! It's like piano wire coming off a spinning reel! I even got a small spool of tatsu 8lb test last year ! Cuz that was the best ! So they say ! Still like a slinky! On a baitcaster it's not bad ! 😮😮 peace !

  9. Mono and flouro are close performance wise, with mono maybe winning by a narrow margin for most applications. But then when you consider cost, mono becomes the clear winner. Stren Original is my top line, I have NEVER in 50+ years had Stren fail unless I did something wrong, like fish frayed line or if in a hurry I tied a bad knot.
