Hula Popper Fishing for Bass and Bowfin

The Swamp Lake in Southern Wisconsin has Bowfin in it. How do I know this? I saw a few of them swim right by me when I’m in my kayak. Now, catching them isn’t simple, but they will hit topwater baits. Enter the Hula Popper. Sure, I might catch some nice largemouth bass, but who’s complaining about that. If the surface lures don’t work, I’ll have to switch to cutbait. Wish me luck chasing the prehistoric bowfin, which is also called a dogfish.
