Looks like your rod is a little under powered for that swim bait, I would use something with a bigger single hook coming out the top as oppose to one little treble hook at the bottom, works better in vegetation and you’ll go right through them thick bass lips. Check out some tactical bassin videos, that man is a swim bait master. Nice pond

The comments about setting hook too late. Obviously no experience using large live shiners. You have to wait for the bass to actually take the fish in before setting the hook. It’s not the same as using a lure
