A little over 20 years ago, so idiot killed the grass in the lake I fish the most. The crappie fishers didn't like the grass and complained. We also had lots of lily pads on areas of the bank which are also gone. They said the hydrilla was an invasive species so it was sprayed and grass carp introduced. Either the spraying or sudden change of environment kill a bunch of fish.
Now, about the only thing you can catch from the bank are blue gill, catfish, and a few small bass. The good bass are accessible only by boat and they can be hard to find. The lake is full of wood and of course that's where the bass are when not on beds. I carry two types of lure retrievers because the lake is such a lure eater.
