Nice bass, and good quick landing, I don't know how many big ones I've lost right right next to the boat. When I was 13 yrs old I was in a trout fishing contest and I caught a tagged fish that won me a free fish mount. Needles to say that free mount was burning a hole in my pocket like you wouldn't believe. I ended up catching a 6.5 pound bass on plastic worm, got a bad backlash on the cast and by the time I got that worked out and reeled down to my worm,,,,,it was caught in or on something (just solid, which made no sense) , I took a chance and decided to just set the hook, ended up being that 6.5 lb and i used my free mount on her. About a year later I caught a huge male (i think) out in deep water on a deep diving crank bait. (7.8 lb, personal best to this day) I took that one back to my parents lake house and held it up to my mounted fish, I swear the head was twice as big, the body wasn't fat but the bucket head was huge. wamp wamp wamp Shoulda waited. I still love old backlash bass, she now hangs right next to my 14 point buck. I tell people she was a native Texas black bass instead of the Florida hybrids so prevalent in lakes today.

He said the canals were created by the runoff of lake ocochobee { spell check} most all the canals were man made to drain the swamps and whole northern everglades at the expense of the natural water filtration of the wetlands.
