How to Setup the Weighted Wacky Rig – For Summer Bass Fishing (Flick Shake Rig)

Why the weighted WACKY rig? Farmers aren’t the only ones experiencing droughts during the summer months. Extremely warm water can affect the way bass behave. It’s true that warmer water will increase the activity level of bass. Bass are driven by their food sources. Some bass go to deeper water in the summer months. However, there are still a large number a bass in the shallows. A large moving bait may not draw a strike like it does in the spring/fall.

Enter…the weighted wacky rig. You’ve got to be a bit more selective on how you fish shallow water in the summer. Laydowns, vegetation beds, docks, and shaded areas are all popular choices. This rig will allow you to fish those areas in a slightly faster method. Bass in the same area may go for a jig, however, it’s always good to have a finesse option to capitalize on as many bites as possible!

  3. A few videos back you were fixing your dads Ryobi reel , now this has nothing to do with nothing but years ago I tore down a shimano bait caster , I’m thinking every bit of thirty years ago , I took out a bearing , here it comes , it said RYOBI on it , pretty cool hey ?? But this was back before WTF was around

  4. I'm pretty new to bait casting rods and reels. Your videos have been so helpful. You don't go out and purchase $500+ combos, you share your experience and what you have learned and you're super humble about it. I'm terrible at fishing but hope to be smart and more confident in fishing as I watch your videos. Just subscribed, keep up with the awesome videos man.

  5. I have been up at Lake Champlain for over a week now and I have caught several several nice bass using the wacky rig in your double banded thanks for the tip

  6. Debo Dude you are the man!!! its like you read my mind….I just bought a wacky rig tool yesterday going out tomorrow morning!! I will put your teachings to the test TY

  7. Great explanation brother! The only reason I'd say the jackal or bps flick'n shimmy is its a thinner profile. Just a little more finesse. Like how most true dropshot worms are. But if I was fishing more stained or dirty water I'd go with a bigger profile as well
