  1. I don't know why so many people dismiss the Blakemore Roadrunner. The Roadrunner has been around for years and everybody acts like underspins are a new bait. I've been fishing the Roadrunner for over 30 years and it still catches fish.

  2. I LOVE underpins! One of my true confidence baits during the months you mentioned. I have a local 6,000 acre lake that’s 18 inches and less all year with no cover accept rock and boulders. I throw this on flats parallel to drops/ledges where I find fish suspending out off the drop. A few times a day they move up on the flat to feed even in winter. I basically drag it at a med to med slow retrieve so that the blade is banging against bottom. I don’t know what they think it is but I absolutely kill them this way. Thanks Randy. As always, quality info.

  3. Underspins are not good for many reasons. Listen, i know. Underspins havd the blade under. This makes the lure not work properly. It throws off the action. Secondly, it may prevent hook up as it is unnecessary bulk at the hook or point of contact. Thirdly, the jigheads are not fitted or streamlined. There are other extremely good options, but I will not talk until I sell my secret lure line. That's elite level for you.

  4. Good luck today. Thanks for taking time to educate us.
Winter coming on how about details on boat prep and maintenance for fishing cold freezing weather. How to keep from damaging motor and pumps ???

  5. I’ve been fishing the under-spin for the last couple of weeks. For me it’s been working around weed lines and drop offs preferably in the 6 to 8 foot range tickling the weeds. Nice and slow popping thru the weed tops. I have to say the evening bite on a buzz bait is tremendous and the bass are literally trying to kill it 😆

  6. Randy over here in Australia I custom make underspin jigs…Mine are radically different from what you have shown…They are not a very popular lure over here but I use them religiously and quite often I will tie either marabou or bucktail bodies on them as well as running soft plastics rigged up on them…regards B.J.

  7. I've been experimenting with the different /0 size owner flashy swimmers this year. The 1/0 is deadly for finessing with a Hazedong. I fish the 5/0 flashy too with the 4.2 hazedong shad and it has some great action. Throw it out and let the blade and paddle tail descend to the bottom, if you're on a school it looks like a baitfish on a death dive. I kind of vary the retrieve speed so it looks like it is darting and they can be triggered to bite that way. I also fish it texposedso it's a pretty weedless package. The only thing running an underspin is it will plane out on an angle with too fast of a retrieve.

Definitely a cool alternative for when fishing grass and you don't feel like peeling weeds off jerkbaot trebles all morning
