Belligerent angler? You mean like Mike. lol
Been there done that. Be respectful. There are a lot of A-
h—out there.6:39 this right here is just life advice my friends
This is some great advice and being a bank fisherman we already have our challenges. I was once fishing at Alum Creek one late summer evening and there happened to be a tournament going on. As the anglers were coming for the evening one of the anglers was working the bank that I happened to be on and when he got to where I was and before making a cast he asked me if I was ok with throwing a few casts. I told him it was no issue and please go ahead. He did catch a small bass but it was not a keeper. That to me was really nice and just did not forget it. Great stuff Randy and thanks for sharing!
basic courtesy goes a long way for sure. good video
Ive cut fooks off a many of times cause i didnt see them pure accident cause i was looking at the graph side scanning looked up and there and there they was im sure ive been cussed a bunch but never intenally did it
Fishing etiquette is a thing of the past in Fl. All of the transplants and imports only care about posting photos on social media or filling their freezers. It looks like that they don’t even have fun while they are fishing, it’s all about the photo or the food. I’ve had to pretty much give up fishing popular locations (Harris especially) because of all of the assholes. The confrontations will start at the boat ramp while you wait in line for 2 hours If you really want to get a huge dose of assholes, you should try fishing from a jetty, like Sebastian Inlet, it will blow your mind as to what goes on there.
You are making good content, but there are just too many videos. Instead of 2 to 3, that are 5 min each. Make 1 that's 12 min. It would be even better if you did a 12 min video. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then a bonus 1 on the weekend. You can still do the mental Monday, just drop it early in the morning. Then, Monday afternoon, drop the 12 min video. I almost want to pay the max membership or lake break down fee just so I can get the chance for a phone call and try to help you. You are passionate and work hard. You just need some help. I am not a YouTube I just watch a butt load and the people i watch with at least 1 million follows have a set schedule when they release and its not 3 times a day or 1 a even every day.
Great advice on all of it, 😂 I go from bank fishermen to skipping rocks and boulders or jump in for a swim 🏊♂️ when boaters get to close and act like they own the lake with their boat..
Thanks Randy. Would you'd do a video on all the steps involved for someone to legally fish the different lakes state to state and how to get started in the tournament fishing scenes for a budget. Love you for just being you and being true to yourself and helping us viewers
This happened to me last year pond fishing with a no longer friend I was working the shore first and he came up past me about 5 feet casting my way telling me he was gonna catch those fish and not me had to bite my tongue and go to the other side
With high school and college fishing these days this subject is one that is obviously not being taught in these teaching organizations. All too often the last ten years this has happened to me and there's always an adult in the boat. What does this tell us.
Hey Randy I agree with you 100% I fished tournaments for 40 yrs and still fish for fun with the family but what I see more and more is guys cut you off and could care less unfortunately that’s what we have on Smith Lake here in Al. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your shows
I give everybody a distance equal to two long casts. And if I see them moving their boat along in a particular direction, I stay off their path, at least for several hundred yards.
Sam Rayburn has an incredible number of assholes who fish there. I have many stories I could share.
This is so incredibly common in western PA its just part of life. We have very few lakes here and the ones we have are small. Not uncommon to have a dozen boats back in a small cove and guys get so close they have bumped into my boat. I dream of big lakes where you can have a big creek arm all to yourself
Personally I don’t like it when someone is on a bank anchored for 30 minutes and doesn’t move , but still wants to claim the bank ! If you want to claim a bank you have got to move every once in a while! I’m a power Angler . If I anchor in a spot that’s producing several fish . I have no problem with someone coming in if I’m staying in that spot for a significant amount of time . Cutting people off is not cool , but you got to move a little lol……It’s a double whammy when someone comes in hot and cuts you off ! Those are the total Dicks !
I’m not always bass fishing, I’m bluegill or crappie fishing. Most people around here are polite and ask. I always say go ahead. Occasionally the personal water craft get a little too close 👍
This why when I bank fish I always go to the part of the lake that no boats can get to I done seen many times boats will pull up on a bank angler and get right on top of them , solid advice
This is another reason i always keep weed in my pocket. Take a "breather" and get creative. Personally, it helps me focus and im able to tune into things that for several reasons are easy to overlook. There is always something else worth fishing close by while you wait for everything to get back to normal over where you originally wanted to go. If someone gets into me i go case by case on how to roll with it but usually ill just start smoking and let them "play thru" as i talk a bit of shit while they go by. Places i fish i tend to see the same folks, they usually figure it out after the first time.
200 yards, dependending on the point, or how much fishibity the area has to offer I feel it could be anywhere from 50 to 300 yards depending on what you're fishing. If it's blank, or there's a shit ton of cover, and you're pitching it could be less. I feel respect is something anyone with a moral compass knows. Just my 2 cents.
I usually go back to the boat ramp and give them 4 flat tires.
I deal w this constantly because these idiots think because they're fishing for a few $$$ they can do whatever they want…honestly it depends on the day I'm having some days I can careless other days I'll just jump right back in front of them 🤷🏻♂️….ps I NEVER do that to anyone I even ask if I'm not sure the direction they're going that I'm not cutting someone off
As a recreational fisherman when I bass fished, all but one occurrence of someone making that dick move, it was tournament guys pissed because I was fishing an area where they wanted to be and I was already there. The worse but most comical was 2 guys fishing a tournament pulled into a cove after I had been there 30 minutes, telling me I needed to leave because they pre-fished there and they were fishing for money, not just "weekend fishermen". When I ignored them, they pushed up on me and fished all around me as I was working down the shoreline. I did move to the other side of the same cove while they were catching a few 1-2 lb fish, I started dragging 4-5 lb fish out of lily pads, they immediately came over there and couldn't catch a fish, then wanted to know what I was throwing. I politely told them to F-off.
Never fails freshwater striper fishing, slow trolling live bait. When another boat sees me in a cove pulling a fish in the boat, they are on top of me.
Some of the lakes l fish tournaments are small, there are so many boats you have to slip between boats just to fish, all day boats are playing musical boats, it's all most impossible to fish, way to many tournaments n allowing to many at the same time, not fun anymore
Its tough these days though , I would think nobody wants to cut somebody off but when theres 5 tournaments going , recreational fisherman ,several people on just about every spot , you basically just have to pick who you will cut off the least
I’m pretty much numb to that… Getting cut off. I learned long ago stream fishing steelhead and rainbows that as long as someone avoided outright walking in the middle of the hole, I was going to catch fish behind them anyway. There’s nothing like having a hooked steelhead screaming downstream right in front of the guy that made every effort to cut you off.
Great "food for thought"…Was fishing the Lake if the Isles this past June, first week if bass season. In my boat with my 11 y.o. grandson…drifting coves over weed beds…and we're nailing them in unweighted 4" "sticks"…sure enough, these guys had to be watching us, here comes a beautiful bass rig. Product decals and guide service info. galore…they start winging chatter baits to within, literally, 10 yards of our boat. I turned to my best bud and says, "Looks like God wants us to take a break.", pulled out a snack and drink and dropped anchor. We talked about what we had done so far and watched…just watched. We shot up a prayer for these guys…the only thing about that was one of the thoughts I had, " This killin' them with kindness is taking way longer than I'd hoped for" 😂😂😂 Tight lines, God bless us all.
It's common sense, but unfortunately common sense is not something you can teach. I always make an effort to respect others and give folks ample room. I've seen many times after a short time the other boat lifts their trolling motor and zips off in a different direction so it usually works out fine.
I’ve been cut off so many times. Last year on two occasions people pulled within feet of me. Many times they say “I’m fishing a tournament.” As if that makes it okay. My SOP is to pull up the trolling motor and go. It’s not worth a confrontation. It does make me want to spend more time in a little river.
I personally use the 250 yd distance rule for going in front of someone. Having respectful communication is always the best approach.
Had two anglers cut me off once while I was throwing crankbaits for bass. Boat cut about 20 yards or so in front of me and started fishing. A couple of minutes later, I caught a 29-inch walleye on the crankbait, which is the largest walleye I ever caught. I made sure the anglers who cut in front of me saw the walleye. Another time, a friend and I were fishing and had been in an area for some time. A couple of young boys, about 16 years old or so, came up and saw that we were catching fish. They pulled their boat next to our boat and began fishing the water we were fishing. We were ready to leave, so after 15 minutes or so, we let them have the spot and went back to the boat ramp on the 30-acre lake. The boys father at the boat ramp had been yelling for the boys to come back, and they were ignoring him. When we pulled up the dad ask if we had seen two boys in a boat. My friend replied that we had seen them. He told the dad that they were smoking cigarettes in the boat (the boys were not smoking–my fishing partner, who is now deceased – wanted to teach the boys a lesson about cutting in on other anglers). The dad got upset and said in a harsh voice, "When they come back, I am going to beat their _____." To this day, I wonder what happened when the boys got back to the boat ramp where their father was.
Always a tough situation. What I don't understand is why it exists. Seems like common sense but it sure does piss me off when it happens and it happens alot. Good video
Nothing makes me happier than catching a good one behind someone who just cut me off! Happened to me last year. I was working down a bank pitching a jig on lay-downs, old docks, and stumps and 2 dudes in a brand new Bass Cat wheel in 50 yards in front me and start fishing, I was mad but I didn’t say or do anything, I just kept fishing. After about 10 minutes of fishing, they were still about 100 yards in front of me, I pitched up under a dock that had some brush underneath it and I got hammered, set the hook and got it in the boat. It weighed 5lbs 12oz! They both wheeled around real quick when they heard all the splashing, then said something I couldn’t hardly understand then they both sat down, fired up and blasted out of there!😂😂 made my day for sure!
Excellent video, please make video bout boat ramp etiquette, especially the pleasure boaters, those people don't have a clue
If I need an advanced degree in meteorology and oceanography to be expected to catch a bass, what's "intuitive" about it?
There was one night we wanted to fish a certain stretch of Bank and there was a boat on it. So we waited on them to go on down the bank the other way. We pulled up on the bank and went the opposite way they were fishin. Well, they ran up to the other end of that bank and started fishing towards us. When we finally met in the middle he started giving us shit about cutting him off. One thing led to another,it was obvious he had been drinking, he was reaching into his glovebox and said I got somebody here that says it is my bank to fish. It was I pistol!! Thank God his boys that was with him stopped him!! Be where, there are crazies out there. It was a tence moment to say the least!!Sure glad it didn’t go any further!! And on another note,I love it when you do get cut off and you catch a 5 Pounder right behind them!! Couldn’t have been more than 20 yards!! Had to chuckle when I flipped her in the boat!! The look on there faces were priceless!! Thx Randy!! Keep the tips coming!!
