Lots of good tips here! To add one, try dragging that bad boy like a jig instead of the slow reel.
Once you set the hook, hold the rod tip much higher. When the rod is pointed at the fish, there is no flex (action) in the rod. The rod should be a shock absorber not allowing the fish to shake the hook when there is slack.
Hey man, I'm curious why you don't set the hook? They inhale that bait whole and you need to pop it to get it moving forward in their mouth to get that hook in em. Otherwise it's in their mouth closed and when you reel, they just open their mouth and spit the bait. Try popping that bait harder and see if your hookups don't get better.

Yes I get more bites but I also lose more fish .. maybe there's gotta be a wag we can open up the hook. A bit more .
They jump off on me all the time is the hook just hard to set or what ? I slam bass all day on my ned no problem but I been having problems with the sleeper, bass love em tho

Rip them lips. To soft off a hook set.
You need to strike into the take to set the hook mate.
You need to rare back on them when you set the hook. Dont sweep the rod, set it like you would if you were fishing a jig and you’re hookup ratio will improve.
You have to fish the dark sleeper with a more parabolic action rod to keep them pinned.
