How to Fish a SPEED WORM in Scattered Grass for Largemouth Bass

How to fish a speed worm in scattered grass for Largemouth Bass… There are many ways to do it, but this is HOW I DO IT. Summer bass fishing can be tough. Sometimes you just have to buckle down and go look for them. One of the most popular techniques for doing this here in Central Florida is to “slow roll” a speed worm. In this video, I show you how to, or how I do it, slow roll a speed worm (like a spinner bait). We’re using 20 – 30 pound braided line, an 1/8 ounce weight, and a 4/0 offset wide gap hook. Just cast it out, and reel it in. They’ll eat. There’s a little more to it than that. Just watch the video to learn how to do it.

  1. On my wife’s phone hey dead sticker try dead stick with a zoom centipede which is called a French fry l thread them completely on a eagle claw weedless hook and fish them where the sun doesn’t shine also try reverse rig that French fry with a little weight in tail end it will swim away and under docks and also dead stick a fluke

  2. Revisiting this classic. My fave part is your backlash makes me feel Like less of a loser🤣 I realize of course ur throwing a fluke into the wind and talking to the cam not giving it full attention but still LOL

  3. Chuck, like the videos. Would like to see your reel hand more so I can judge speed and your stop and go. I like the views of the rod– I can see what you are doing with the rod action.

  4. One of the best tools for helping pick out a backlash is a dental floss pick. The tooth pick end can be inserted right where you need it most. The flosser end makes it easy to hold. Removing a nasty backlash is very satisfying.

  5. The speedworm outfished the fluke in this video…depends on their preference. Loved you showing the massive backlash on your braided baitcaster. Very entertaining.

  6. I’ve noticed that much of the time when you are overhand casting, that you cast across your body, or it looks like you are. You are right handed, yet it appears the rod tip is being sent from over you left shoulder. Is there a reason for this, or some advantage? I am a long time beginning or intermediate fisherman, and am trying to improve. What gives with your casting technique, if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks Chuck!

  7. Great recovery from the nest ; 10 minutes to untangle? You do have a lot of patience, lol. Keeps the flicks coming, always educational. Using some of your Texas Rig tips deep in the heart (Houston) later today!

  8. Headed down to Toho myself in a couple days. All the way from Dallas, TX. Hopefully they’re still biting the speed worm…big or small, doesn’t matter. Just looking forward to getting back on the water. Great work with your videos! I always enjoy them
