How to fish a plastic worm in deep grass and brush

It’s lake summer in a watershed lake in southern Oklahoma. It’s 100 plus degrees but the bass are bitting. I’m using Jimmy Houston’s boat , lures and tackle. The trick to finding bass in the hot summertime, and in this case, a school of bass, is to find good structure. What I have today is is a long underwater grassy point dropping from 6-8 feet on top to 12-16 feet on the sides and end. It’s also bordered by a heavy timber line full of brush and large sunken trees. Couple this perfect scenario with the right worm combination and you have a winning combination!

  1. Good video, Roland! I live about 30 miles south of where you are fishing in this video. Maybe I’ll bump into you one day when you’re down here, if I get lucky. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration.

  3. Roland in my opinion catches more bass and has more tips than any other channel. He don't just sit there at the house and tell you about it, he proves it out on the water time after time.

  4. Legend! One of the best ever and still making content, still educating all of us. Thank you Sir! I, like many many others have learned so much from you. I'll never meet you, I live in another country ( Canada ) but I'm in my 40's and have watched and more importantly, learned from you for over 30 years. I'm certain that I'm one of probably millions of people that can say the same. A legend is used too much today. But in regards to Roland, it fits. And fits extremely well. Tight lines Good Sir!

  5. I've learned a lot from you, Roland. A lot! One of the most valuable things I learned from you was how to get a hook out of the gullet by going in behind the gills. This happened to my wife recently where her bass took it deep and was hooked in the gullet. Because of your instruction on how to remove it, I saved the life of that bass. No blood! We are adamant C&R anglers. I thank you!
