  1. I wanna say thank you. I've watched you for years, even before social media. I hate slow fishing, weenie worming, jigs etc. But the past few weeks I've been flipping jigs and I'm hooked. I built several jigs last year but just wouldn't tie one on but after your videos I finally did. So thank you sir for your wisdom.

  2. I seem to have this spidey sense of feeling a fish strike. Idk if it's from perch fishing Lake Erie or what. I always used cheap k mart rods for years and would catch limits while others in the boat lost minnow after minnow. Now that I kayak bass fish and got Kastking rods I can literally feel rocks and sticks and muck on the bottom and also when a fish bites. I been trying to let a fish (tap tap) a couple times extra to help not lose fish. My favorite so far is a Buckeye spot remover shakey. It always sets the hook perfectly. I will miss fish on a wacky though sometimes. I need to be more patient I think but I just want to set the hook when I feel a fish bite.

  4. For a slow bait, It's a fineline between waiting too long and not setting the hook quick enough. You will not out feel a bass. You will lose every time trying to play touchy feely with bass. When in doubt, set the hook. You'd be surprised how many times a bass can suck in the bait and spit it out without you ever even knowing it.

  5. Most fish I lose happens when I try to winch them in. Once clear of cover or snags I always ease up and play it out.

I have not had many problems detecting bites. I often use mono and fiberglass Ugly Stik rods. Still feel the hits.

  6. This is spot on. I was fishing a jig on riprap. I lifted my rod and it felt like my line had been cut. No jig there. So I started reeling in slack and there’s a fish on. I set the hook land the fish. The bass picked up my jig and swam to the boat. I never felt a bite. It was incredible.

  7. One thing above all others has made me detect bites better: fishing rivers (and I mean, IN the river via wading). When you can learn to feel a bite on slack line in current, fishing “still” water becomes almost (almost!) easy.

  8. I felt like my jig was sliding down a branch couple weeks ago and next thing I felt was a hard tick, when the bass spit it out. That one did not hang on to it long

  9. Hardest detection is when pitching into cover. My partner can feel a bite when the line is still dropping.
I usually hook a fish halfway though its intestine, I leave it so late trying to feel the bite!
