  1. Floro line has too much memory and is not as supple as monofilament or braid. I get better sating distance with braid and mono. The only way I will use floro is as a leader material when a sinking line is a better option when fishing certain techniques.

  2. This is a man who fishes more than 99% of us ever will. He also talks to many ppl who fishes 99% more than any of us will. He is simply passing along knowledge and ideas passed between them. Go be scientific somewhere else cause 99% of us dont give a rats ass for your input

  3. Johnny is well off and he deserves it! But now we are stuck with people who are strapped in their money making lifestyles that have no clue why INTEGRITY matters in any sport! No one shouldn’t give a shit what color your problem is or why you think this world should change you! We all the same as long as we come together! United we Stand..Divided We Fall! No matter what sport you like!

  4. Problem is Randy…They don’t care about American Way of Life online! What they care about is rather or not you D 2 the Fkn I! Even Old Crusted Johnny been living on a beach in his own world! Ifn you know what EYE mean!

  5. When you’re using your(sp) most of the time and you live in Control Colorado! You shouldn’t comment on nothing! But when you are Randy? It makes you American! It makes you free again! It makes you wanna do wtf you wanna do! It fkn Rings with Kickin Fkn Ass! Sorry!

  6. Spooling up Fluoro the “right” way is like writing in the sand on the beach. It results in only fleeting satisfaction before your effort is washed away once the water comes and goes. The very next trip you’re into the kinks, coils and boiy-yoings that make light tackle work unpleasant.

  7. At thrice the cost and most of the spool gets wasted, fluoro isn't worth it. All us unsponsored folks catch just as much or more with mono or braid. I've spent hundreds on fluorocarbon spools and for what advantages it offers it fails in other categories. Cant use it on your jig and bobber or slip cork applications cause it sinks and ruins the hookset, cant use it on spinning gear effectively without battling line twisting. To each their own, I have to use what feels right, and that I can afford, and also what causes the least amount of negative environmental impacts.

  8. I do agree with using straight whatever kind of line you’re using. That being said I use Monofilament line for most of my fishing. I find it to be more abrasive resistant, more forgiving, more manageable, more consistent and a lot less expensive.

  9. 8lb-10lb X9 braid to 6-10lb fluorocarbon leader was a game changer for me when it comes to spinning gear. Being able to just lean into a fish and know you're going to get a hook in them is huge for me. I can cast really far and still get the hook in a fish where I wouldn't have a shot with all the stretch. I love your videos, but I could never go back to straight fluoro on spinning tackle

  10. Aside from all the back and forth about stretch, elasticity, transparency in water, stiffness… the production of fluorocarbon line is extremely environmentally impacting.

  11. After I started using fluorocarbon 20 years ago, not withstanding certain applications, I use fluorocarbon 90% of the time when compared to mono. It's a better line. Additionally, once I spool new line on my reels, I release all the line from the reel behind the boat (no lure, line only), while in gear and then re-spool. This process removes any unnatural turns and twists resulting in a straight spooled line. I've never had a problem.

  12. I personally like using a Fluorocarbon coated Copolymer line. It’s 1/2 the cost and you get 1/3 more per spool. It’s strong as all get out and it’s invisible in the water. I’ve used all different kinds of Fluorocarbon line and I don’t like how stiff it feels and it breaks far too easy. It’s one reason I don’t use line lighter than 12 lb test, even with Mono or Copolymer lines. Braid is another story. I use braid on Whopper Ploppers and heavier grass jigs and frogs. I probably change out my line every other year. I think it’s a myth you have to do it every year or every 6 months.

  13. I bought a line counter and I've yet to find a formula to give me a accurate measurement of how much backing to use to get 150 yard refill spool over it when the 2 lines have different diameters

  14. Sir, respectfully want to say that around the same time you told us the economy is doing just fine, you lost your boat deal. Perhaps they are not related, but it seems when the economy is just fine boat companies do very well. You are an expert on bass fishing. Stay in your lane.

  15. Not worth the cost. I use a lot of copolymer with good results. No one even talks about the copolymer. As far as braid to florocarbon, I don’t do it but you’re the only pro that I’ve heard bashing it.

  16. Sorry Randy, the actual science says otherwise.

Fluoro stretches more than mono does in most cases, and practically equally in cases of stiffer fluoro. The difference is that fluoro is less elastic, meaning once it is stretched, it STAYS stretched, which weakens the line. Elasticity is NOT a measure of "stretchiness"…its a measure of how well a material returns to its original shape after being stretched.

Mono is FAR more abrasion resistant in all the tests on yt. Diameter for diameter, nylon mono is on average 30-40% more abrasion resistant.

Fluoro is NOT less visible in water than mono. Why people keep perpetuating this myth is beyond me. There are SO many scientific tests that disprove this, it's like still claiming the earth is flat.

Mono sinks nearly as fast once surface tension is broken. After that, fluoro sinks 5-15% faster depending on the line diameter.

  17. Ive used flora carbon on two spinning reels for 6 years. 20 lb 6 lb diameter. For trout, crappie, white bass, and have caught wallies, catfish, its strong. And i seem to think it cast further than mono line.

  18. I’ve seen 2 separate discussions from actual materials engineers on serious bass forums that confirm:

    1) the range of stretch of fluorocarbon line is virtually the same as mono
    2) ditto for the “invisibility”
    3) it is marginally more abrasion resistant
    4) it is more dense, therefore it sinks and is noticeably more sensitive than mono
    5) knot strength used to be a concern but modern fluoro seems to have solved that
    6) all the above taken together, it’s up to the user to decide whether it’s worth the cost.

  19. Sufix advanced mono is what I have switched to and it stretches less than fluorocarbon and the visibility is about the same. I have used all of the major fluorocarbon lines and it is good line but the cost is terrible. Anyone looking to switch check sufix out
