Choosing the right rod for fishing big swimbaits is one of the most crucial things to consider. The right rod will allow you to hook and land more fish, cast easier and better and make your overall fishing experience a lot better. Today, I break down the reasoning of choosing specific rods for specific baits.

Yeah, going swimming for the Hinkle lol
Amazing video. Found it incredibly helpful!!
Great video!
Great tips. Just getting into swim baits and this definitely helps. Thank you!
Always great info Brodie
Dude this video enlighted me so much about swb rods. I’m loohin for an artex rod so hard but it’s like a unicorn. Keep on rocking.
ahhh…it all makes sense now.
I knew a guy who broke off a hinkle, and immediately went home and got his scuba gear looking for it. didn't find it, but eventually dredged it luckily with a lipless crankbait. Now that I just started getting into swimbaits, I know why.
I used to do a lot of beachcasting, before I got really into lure fishing, and when casting we always use a shock leader at a rate of 10lbs per Oz weight. Perhaps if casting a really big lure on 20 or 30 lbs line a shock leader would be good idea.
Another great video bro! Ive been looking to get into the swim bait game and buying cheaper gear to start. I normally don’t buy the high end stuff anyway. But i was going to start with the dobyns fury 7’9 swimbait MH fast. 1-5oz. Throwing 6-8 inch baits soft and hard. Paired with a piscifun phantom. It has good reviews for the price point. Plus the colors match and it looks dope! The budget is around $200-$250 max. Should i consider another rod or reel?
Where can one find the boxes you showed in the beginning?
I felt your pain losing that bass
thx for sharing the knowledge!
Hey there! I’ll be headed to Prescott valley this weekend to visit some family. Is there any good ponds or lakes to fish? Last time sucked, lol. I’ll be bank fishing
I dumped a DD today by throwing to stiff of a rod for my deps 175
Dude I feel your pain on the lost fish!!!
Great video Geoff. Is the Megabass Levante Leviathan parabolic enough to use when throwing Deps 250 or is it more of a jig hook Hud rod?
At lest it landed in the weed line or just at it and not in 20-30-40 feet of water !!! Where you able to find it and get it back ??
As a fellow bank beater I'd love to hear your thoughts on shorter rods for glides. A lot time due to trees it's hard to fish above a 7'6" been messing around with st Croix's premier musky rods. Just curious what you go with in these situations
Killing the game as usual
Just picked up the Phenix M1 8’ H…thing feels really good!
Couldn't have said it better right on the money man why don't you send that Dr t-pole my way
another really really needed video because I am planning on upgrading my big Swimbait stuff here pretty shortly! keep up the good work man!
Just buy a musky rod and a tranx 300 and be done with it
I fish a Phenix M1 inshore series 8’2 rated for lures 3-8oz. Perfect with a K9 and tosses a jawjackin bait soft bait pretty damn well also. Pretty perfect to handle treble hook baits and solid enough to fish medium sized soft baits
