I’ll answer these questions and more in my NEW SERIES called “The HOOK – ROD – LINE Relationship”. My goal is to help new anglers who are trying to decide on a new combo for a specific bait. Additionally, I hope to give anglers a different way to look at the combos that they already own to make them more versatile. I understand most people can’t have 20 different combos for each lure that they plan to fish. It also depends where you are in the country. If there are lots and lots of big pike straight braided line is nice. With stout rods even if your targeting bass. It'll save you lures and line and doesn't really effect how many bass I catch
When using braid what pound test is recommended for both a medium and medium heavy rods? Go Hawkeyes.

I'm 70 years old and do not have a ton of muscle power. I YAK fish, not bank fishing If the SMASH is not the correct combo then which LEW'S combo would you suggest and what kind of line for it? Thanking you, in advance, for your quick reply as I will buy another combo IF the SMASH is not good for working a frog.
So I just bought my first bait caster. I'm a bit discouraged with it though. Got setup done right based on multiple videos. I can cast a side arm throw but it always goes way left of my target. Then I have tried and tried the overhand cast. It bombs straight down and backlash everywhere. Needless to say I am not confident with it at this time. Any suggestions?

My favorite swim jig setup is either my spinning gear air my baitcaster my spinning rod is a ugly stik gx2 6’6MH WITH 12 lb mono and my baitcaster is a h20 express angler combo 6’6 Mh with 12 lb mono

Great video. I’m a braid guy with either a Fluor or mono leader, especially with the flipping jigs or Texas rig in heavier cover. Like you, use Fluor for swim jigs and any sinking baits! Still, best summary of rods/reels/line for the applications I’ve seen! Good job!
Could a medium power fast action spinning combo serve as my crankbait, squarebill, swim jig rod? I already have one and not sure if its worth the cash to buy a second medium power rod. Instead would maybe add onto my MH-fast by buying a H-fast?
