How To

How To Catch Bass With Plastic Worms! **AMAZING UNDERWATER FOOTAGE**

Let’s head underwater to watch bass eating ned rigs and dropshot worms! Want to become a better angler? Come along as we study this amazing underwater footage of fish behavior while Tim teaches the differences in presentations and how you can use them to match different bass behaviors!

We learn a ton about bass behavior when we head underwater, but we also learn about the lures we’re using. From above, ned worms and dropshot worms don’t look like much but there are huge differences between the different worms when you get them below the surface. Some days a ned will out fish a dropshot and other days it won’t, but you’ve probably never considered that how the bass are positioning in different weather conditions can dictate that outcome. That is just one small take away from this underwater bass footage.

Below you’ll find links to the different baits in the video. We’ve included the exact colors you’re seeing, as well as our favorite rigging components and equipment. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  1. Just an FYI if your not sure you have a fish on your hook, just gently tap the handle of rod. If you have a fish on your lure or soft plastic by tapping handle an get a reaction that's when to reel line as you lower rod tip parallel to water stop once rod is parallel to water. Immediately drop rod tip count to 5 or 6 then set the hook.

  2. Yes Sir, the Bass and Walleye had been pretty hot on Jerkbaits last week, but when that 20 degrees weather came through Arkansas I was still out catching em on a dropshot. The Spotted bass had red in their mouths like they'd been eating craws, but didn't want a craw bait. Gave em the Netbaits Jr Crush in Goby and they tore em up! Good video Tim…alot of guys won't go back to the basics.

  3. Question for either you or Matt I've been having a hell of a time trying to find a drop shot rod that could handle a 3/4 weight for the heavy current I fish. Looking for a mid-range $. Thanks!

  4. Does fishing this slow apply to us guys in SoCal? I am still seeing smaller bass blow up on the surface occasionally. I haven't caught a single fish on a Ned rig on my fishery.

  5. Hey question for y’all! When you tie longer leaders on your bait cast set ups, how do you avoid hurting your thumb with the knot when thumbing the spool on a cast?

  6. We have flood conditions here in California and you guys have never done anything about fishing rain/muddy water I’d love to see a everything you need to know about rain 🌧️ ❤🙏

  7. Are there any good markers on the market for painting directly onto soft plastic baits? I've gotta think adding a few details to a bait can help you get more bites. Wether thats drawing on gils, lateral lines, eyes, perch bars, etc. Maybe a sharpie is fine, or maybe they can smell/taste that? Just thinking out loud.

  8. Love the underwater verification of what your describing the bass are doing! This video really makes me want to drop shot and ned rig and I will be trying to test your technique! Thanks Tim!

  9. Good stuff and awesome footage! Hey, you guys ever think about doing a live stream, answering subscribers questions etc? I think that'd be a hit.

  10. Man….I try to envision how it might look around my bait down in the water for years and years and years. You guys with your incredible footage helped getting a precise picture of it. That is nothing less but outstanding. Thanks for your excellent work 👍

  11. Hate to copy the last comment but I can’t help it. Incredible job editing this video. I love how when you were talking about something, you would cut to video that matched ! Great job

  12. Damn good info right here! Love the reasoning for the open hook Ned rig – bass might hook themselves trying to spit the bait…never thought about that!

  13. Tim, I really like your finesse tips. I also like using the ned rig senko and your tips on drop shot fishing, but the killer technique these past two months for me has been neko rigging a Yamamoto D Shad (smoke or olive green) with a 1/32 oz nail weight. I can’t believe how many fish I have caught with the neko rigged D Shad including the biggest bass for me so far this year at 5lb 11oz 😉
