How To Catch Bass In The Heat! ( Its Easy! )

Quit struggling when its hot! Bass become really predictable on hot days. If you know where to look and what to throw, catching fish is no problem… even in the hottest weather! If you’re going to go to the lake and sweat, you might as well learn the right places to fish. Pay close attention as Tim points out key cover elements and demonstrates the baits he uses to pick them apart.

Many anglers give up on fishing during the day during the heat of Summer. They switch to night fishing or just give up all together. However, there are a few anglers that understand what a huge help the heat can be to fish positioning and predictability. The hotter it gets, the easier it is to catch the bass! When the peak of Summer heat arrives, shallow bass position under the thickest pieces of overhead cover. If you’re looking down an entire bank of shallow cover you can instantly see the 2 or 3 spots where the largest fish will sit.

With the guess work removed from the equation, all you need are a handful of reliable baits to catch the fish. Below you’ll find links to our favorite flipping baits, frogs, and swim jigs. We’ve included the best sizes, our favorite colors, as well as the gear we use to fish them effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  1. Love you and Matt I nhave been a sub for several years . The info u guys is legit , I’m mostly a shallow fisherman located in N Al so i get the extreme heat and humidity we usually go early daylight till 11:00 12:00 some days late in the evening to dark we don’t night fish a lot just isn’t my deal , but love the frog bite , swim jig bite plus in current on pickwick and Wilson lakes the mid range 8 10’bite can b good with DT 10 and 1/2 oz spinner bait or chatter wagon a bit offshore tell me what u think . Water , power aid lite is a must to keep the head in game in good ole Al in July lol

  2. I don't care about the weather I don't care about all the weeds and stuff I'm only interested in what lures to use and where to cash them and how to make them work your video is good you spend too much time talking about the weather the water temperature and stuff this week and work through in the future so show us the lures and how to use them other than that it's boring thank you

  3. @tacticalbassin just saw this video and wanted highlight that those red arrows where you pointed to look for action were so helpful. Bifocals can’t hardly pick up where most casts land until the fish has been pulled far toward angler. Using these arrows for directly our attention certainly could help those like me to see where to focus and follow the action for learning.

    Thanks so much!

  4. My question is how do you fish deep and stay deep in deep vegetaion and still keep weeds off you half oz jig or weight or hook or everything really….. When ever i try working a swim jig or some plastic lure in thick vegetation i just keep yabking out pikes of weeds…even with "weedless" hooks which is literally impossible i believe lol…thats why ive started using a 3/8 oz boo ya spinner with a mr twister on it and working it slow……can get it kinda deep but not that deep……and easier to keep out of weeds since it sinks slower…..

  5. So I use a Booya Micro pond magic spinner 3/8 oz with a 3" chartreuse Mr twister with action tail….. And I'll work it as slow as possible pull it just fast enough for spinner to barely spin but plenty of action from Mr twister action tail….

  6. How would you guys fish a small body of water with no grass just moss around the shore line and just generally no cover in late June and three July? I should add this is strictly a bank fishing body of water. Thanks for any advice I can get!!!
