Is it just me or is a weighted senko not a light bait?
when i started fishing i knew nothing. my cousin picked me a Lews American hero. couldn't be happier with the pole. People need to understand with a bait caster isn't about just just chucking it as hard as you can. my friend has the same pole and he bird nest swear to god at least 20 times everytime he uses it. he feels a need to whip it as hard as he can when youre actually hindering your casting distance. for bait casters its all about form and follow through. Fishing consistently with a baitcaster after 4-6 months i can safely say i only bird nest once a week at best. (normally fish everyday)
Turn your brakes all the way off? Does that mean dial them back to 0? I consider light weight to be a rooster tail or a Rapala minnow
Good Job on that issue Sir.
I did away with my spinners so I have no choice but to learn to cast light weight with my baitcaster , even on breezy days .
I used my wallet under my arm to train my wrist and took it a step further , sitting in a camp style chair with my elbow resting on the arm of the chair to learn how to cast light jigs or worms into the wind .
How do you reel in the baitcaster line?
I was trying to throw a spoon today and I could not with how light it was so I just threw a crank bait all day
I have no issues casting anything at all. Not sure why some do.
Question: is there a more “ideal” reel ratio for casting light baits? Also, you told us to disable the brakes…you never told us to turn them back on. Should we have the brake completely disabled for casting light bait? Appreciate your answers. Thanks.
What is the lightest lure you could cast? I like to use 1/64 and 1/32 oz jigs for crappie and bluegill.
You leave magnet brakes off ???
Did u keep your brakes all the way off?
You take take off the magnet? Won’t that spoil you?, also what Lb test on that Texas rig?

I think my biggest hangup is using to much force like you pointed out. Coming from a spinning rod I am trying to send this thing out a mile. I must accept a baitcaster is a shorter distance cast but more accurately placed.
Depends on the wind.
You know you have a dirty mind when you're just listening and not watching but you cant stop laughing.
Looks at my bait caster In the corner…….it backlashes violently 😅
Recently purchased a rebel wee crawfish. And got upset that i got a huge birdnest. I have not had birdnest in a baitcaster in years! Soo ill deff have to apply these tips!
But with spinning gear I can throw twice as far.. Getting used to baitcasting and for me lures that are lighter than 20g are yet impossible to cast on 50+ metres.
He is not saying to hold the reel handles up. Do that.
Thank you for the tips.
As someone who is learning how to fish with bait caster this is very helpful thanks !
Can the lure drop tune technique be used for every weight lure?
I am a riverbank fisherman. I can't have it longer with a back cast
When you talk about keeping it at your body and just using your rist, that’s only for your light lures right. Because when I use heady lures I cast it normally. Your not supposed to use your rist and cast lightly with normal bait cast lures right.
Glenn. A big THANK YOU for this video. I kmow that this video is old given thst we are now in 2022. I was sooo frustrated with a baitcaster Lews Smash MedHeavy Fast-action 6’6” combo rod. Birdnesting was a common issue and almost gave up on my baitcaster ( was going to sell it). Taking advice of lowering the brake and loosen spool tension, My casts are now like 75 to 125 feet with a plastic swimbait. My eyes popped out in excitement. No more need to muscle my casts. A flick of the wrist and the “whip” effect of the rod did the trick. THANK YOU THANK THANK YOU
Flicks wrist
Me “ how tf did he do that”
Why are you not using the break? You said just crank it to zero and that was it.
Think about throwing a paper airplane; if you throw it real hard it distorts the paper and it crashes, if you throw it gently it glides for quite a distance.
Watch some bfs vids. Put the fairy wand down. and like Bobby barrack says.learn 2 cast folks. I would double my catching with spin gear, but i am growing my fishing skills. Not falling back on what I can do very well.but working on what I can't do so well.master the roll cast,Jimmy houston, kvd explain it well in videos. It's a great way to sling out lite baits and works to keep the lure low in windy conditions.
Always good info from Glen. He boosts up my confidence after a few videos I'm ready to go rip some lips🎣👍
