I build boats for a living. 30 plus years. We do a lot of close mold parts and its cool watching how large kayaks are built.
Excellent Vid, it was nice to show a bit more of the intricacies of the mold process, definitely helps justify the costs involved.

We need more of these facilities in the US, especially for bigger boats 18FT+ similar to Whaly or Polycraft.
Other countries are eating our lunch on the bigger boats and import/shipping costs are insane now on those boats. The material science is in on roto-molded boats and there are significant benefits, but Americans sure do like Fiberglass and Aluminum.

If normal people complain about the price of roto molded kayaks, they need to wake up.
They don't realize the cost for these molding machines, let alone the cost of the mold. I'm in plastics in the Automotive industry. The company i work for just installed 2 new blow molding machines @ $270k each and 2 new dual platten blow molding machines @ $400k each just to mold car parts. Still way too small mold a cheapo Walmart kayak.
The XTR130 molds have to be expensive, especially being a polished surface.
I see the price tag of these Bonafide kayaks, I don't complain! I'm going to pick up a 2025 Native Slayer Propel LTE very soon. Awesome video Austin!
Great to se you and your son collaborating together. Im from Northern California Delta area . I have yet to see this great looking kayak around here . I cant wait for some day to own one , Native titan X or bonefied XTR 130 as my vary first Kayak. Just love how knolegable & passionate you are about fishing. It's my passion aswell . I love the layout but damn the weight for kayaks is getting out of hand .
No such thing as the perfect kayak. And in my opinion I don't know if it makes the top 5. Build the Attack 140 then you will be closer to the best.
