Come underwater and watch how different lures move underwater! We throw a ton of compact micro jigs so today we’re comparing the best jig trailers we’ve found. Come below the surface into crystal clear water and see if you can find a favorite trailer that will help you catch more fish this year!

Downsizing your presentations to get more bites has been the theme for anglers across the country the last few years. As a result, micro jigs continue to gain popularity. Finding the right jig is tough enough, but understanding when to use different trailers is a whole other issue. Check out how unique each of these trailers is, so you can easily pick the best option for where you’re fishing. Whether you’re focused on movement, profile, or realism, there’s a trailer here that will help you catch fish.

Below you’ll find links to the jigs and trailers. We’ve included our favorite sizes and colors for each, as well as some of our favorite rods (at different price points) for fishing micro jigs. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  1. Try sticking with Limbs and Appendages. You almost can't go wrong with that description when you're talking about mud bugs or crawdad imitator parts.

Crayfish do not have tentacles! And they don't stick their claws up in a defensive manner (engage in battle) when it comes to dealing with a Bass 25x its size and weight! Crawfish are fairly intelligent for arthropods and have a self amputation coping method when it comes to dealing with predators. The claws are raised up as a sacrificial offering (Autotomy) once the bass, typically a juvenile, grabs the claw the mud bug release the limb, it high tails for cover leaving the bass with only a morsel of a meal.

  2. I didn't think of fishing a TRD Crawz as a trailer, looks really good with the secondary action of the skirt. I also didn't know the eyes glow like that. I usually just fish it on a ned head. It's early spring where i am, this might be great in a firecrawl color slowly dragging the bottom.

  3. Was able to meet Tim and his son last summer and just got to meet Matt at my local bbq joint, pleasure as always meeting either of the duo, see you guys on the water and I would say keep up the great videos but you all knock it out of the park on every video

  4. I hope ya'll read this.. genuinely.. I do not know.. how this channel.. isn't at 4-6 million subscribers.. it's undoubtedly, the bible of bass fishing with two guys who love it, communicate well and are likeable.. keep it up Tim and Matt <3

  5. PS, you guys should check out the beast Coast l metal open water sniper jigs. They are like a higher quality version of the missile Bates micros, which are one of my standards obviously. Plus they are made in New England, which is a rarity shout out to us northerners!

  6. I tie my own jig, I like from 1/16oz – 1/4oz the heaviest; the trailer i used is from a brand call Bottom Up (JDM) from Japan; i like their Hurry Shrimp 3" and the Baby Bull Hog 2.5" for my micro jig

  7. That TRD craw is one of my favs for sure. 😎🤙🏽 The pro crawz look insane in the water too but I haven’t gotten bit on one yet, too big maybe idk what the problem is haha looks awesome. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

  8. Excellent video, and under water footage ! this gives me so much more of an idea of the action I am looking for ! I have the TRD Crawz and Bugz, I was thrilled the Crawz had such good action, I'm going to need to pick up some micro football jigs ! Tim, seeing this video reminds me of a request I have, I would love to see an underwater video, comparing a perfectly rigged jig and trailers,, with, a few rigged off., sloppy, off center rigging. I have always heard, that rigging a perfect trailer is vital !the argument, that the bait swims better is valid, I'm not anyone, just a guy in the smallest state in the country, that is learning bass fishing, but I do have a 145 I.Q., and it seems to me, that dying shad, do not swim perfectly, could bass key in on a ill swimming bait as well, better, or worse than one rigged perfectly, love to see this under water ! thanks, The Bassless Chap

  9. I’ve been using ZMAN for 8 years and when they came out with the TRD Craw I in compact jig heaven and I also use the Picasso Lil’ Spotty jig and and add the Paca chunk, or Missle baits little D-Chunk. I definitely like the Reins products but I’ve had a difficult time finding them, especially in colors I like….. Love your underwater videos 💯 and I’m pulling for you guys to hit 625K followers this year, and I remember you guys just over 50K😮 and I can’t think of one piece of gear that I’ve bought ( rods, reels, baits) that I regret, and some of the lures and techniques have put some big girls in my photos and memories forever. 🍀🎣🍀👏👏👏👏

  10. Does this change a lot from the bank? Almost every how to fish __ video has people in boats. The techniques change drastically off the bank and from a boat. In terms of what does a bait do when you pop up 4 inches on a rod with a jig on it from a boat and from the bank. On a boat i feel much more on top of the fish and that my lure is popping and and down. On the bank i feel like im popping the jig up but towards me a lot more.

  11. Great video! Love the TRD Craw and you made a good point about smallies hitting hard to shock the craw and/or dis "arm" a claw. I found a hot spot last year when bass fishing opened up here in Ontario Canada where I live in June and they were shallow and still in prespawn/spawn. Ned rigged a TRD Craw and a smallie smashed it but never took it and I should have just left it and soaked it so him to come back. Great tip and I will also try throwing a regular TRD or similar as it will look like a craw without the claws as a follow up lure.

  12. Happy to see the elaztech cameo, love elaztech baits although I find storage a pain because of the material interactions… I 2nd the call for a tackle storage run through. I run a kayak so storage space is scant or if you guys already have such a vid, link please! Thanks again.
