My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
It all depends on design and action. Soft doesnt mean more action. Sometimes, going harder actually gives it more action.
One benefit that more limber bait might have is that it folds easier to fish's mouth so fish feels less resistance. But of course action comes first because you always have to get bitten first.
Play degree what you were trying to say on this video and I already knew that there is always how they swim different heart process being shrimp dipping
Agree!! Thanks for the tips!
I've never tried swimbaits so I got the ones that were on sale. I got strike king rage swimmers in ghost shad and 6th sense divine swimbaits in chartreuse. I also have some zoom paddle tail flukes in white ice if those count. They look pretty good as a spinnerbait trailer and were only 1 dollar. 😍
I have found what you say to be true just on the few times I have thrown 6” swim baits so far this year as the Kietech is so soft they don’t hold up worth a darn and has already turned me away from them.
I am already going to add some weight to the Megabass magdraft as it is such a slow sinker I get frustrated counting it down and you have to get the speed just right or it barrel rolls.
I like the Bass Mafia loaded Daingerous better for the action it has that is totally different.
I also have the 6th Sense hangover but haven’t got it on a rig yet for being undecided what reel and rod combination I really want to use it with but I’m committing to throwing big baits for bigger fish this year.
I am nobody but I agree with Matt. I say fish different ones and let the fish tell. A swimbait is also very tweekable for lack of a better word.
Are you sure thats not the Zaldaingerous swimbait? Rob Turkla put out a video where he and Chris Zaldain said their swimbait was awesome and the Hangover wasn’t.
Ice is rotten. I really like your videos. Hate my tackle warehouse bill.
Just got a few different brands in 6in per rigged models trying to figure out the rod. Good info !!!!!
Great advise! Like any bait, there is a time & a place when one will outperform the other & that goes for color also. Great videos Matt & looking forward to your next tournament.
What a great break down of different swimbaits, I could not agree more on what you have told us about these baits, I just know I want more bites and will try whatever it takes to get them!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Matt…do you still use that heat gun to straighten the tails on your larger soft swimbaits?
Good video-probably just as important, there are lots of different tails as well. They all do different actions. Swimbaits are just tools and none work 100% of time.
Great information. I bought 3 different swimbait brands to learn this year. I’m excited to see how each swims.
AGREE !!!!
And explanation like this, is why you have one of the best channels and why you cash checks fishing
Algorithm 😊
Yup it comes down to situational situations
Definitely agree with you. Shot a video today comparing some of the best 6” swimbaits and what they look like underwater. Also looked at how limber the tail was and all it really told me was how these baits swim differently not which one was “better”
I agree with you- I have been told before you could judge the way the bait will swim by looking at how limber it is but- never that one or the other was "better". That's not been my experience.
Thanks again for keeping the information accurate!
Would the TUSH give a bait that rolls even more roll?
Very well said man
Thank You ! Good stuff
I totally agree with you. I’ve been fishing swim baits forever and truly use different baits according to the best action that gets bites that day.
I keep numerous types rigged in different ways accordingly.
I always learn something from your videos. Thanks Matt.
Awesome
Matt youtube is the ultimate dock talk…you gotta figure out who is shooting straight
i live in louisville ky and i have found myself using nothing but the 6 inch albino magdraft , man when they are on it they are on it. find myself not flipping my jig probably when i need to. just something about that swimbait bite and i rarely use a standard swimbait unless on the back of a swim jig even though i bought 140 worth of assorted core tackle products. headed to green river lake this weekend to try out the 8" culshad, probably catch a muskie. thanks for the video
🍺Thanks Matt🤠.
A Keitech rolls very well on a TUSH.
Just sayin' 😉
Good tips Matt 👍
I have swim baits of all textures. I never thought about which one is better. I would not agree with the tail theory. Besides, I let the bass tell me which is better. 😂
Thanks Matt, depends on the trick you want the dog to do ,wag its tail, or roll over.
Great explanation, Matt !!!
Sure are getting a lot of butts replying to your videos lately 😊
I was always told you want a softer plastic in colder water because it will not be stiff and move better but i dont throw enough swimbaits to know if thats true or not… Great video as always keepem coming man!!!
I’ve used a lot of the smaller swim baits. Got the mag draft to learn for the larger
