  1. Where I usually go to fish not many boats can get to, and definitely they ain’t going fast…but lakes? The worst one in lakes these days is those doofus Chads in their wake boats churning it up like a wave pool!

  2. My point of view is coming from the bank. I can't say boat traffic improves the fishing, but I do believe the fish aren't disturbed by it, for example, at Smallwood Park on the Potomac, a park you're familiar with, I'll fish that area on the left side of the ramps while boats are loading and unloading, and be catching fish, so I do believe at least fish aren't disturbed by boat traffic.

  3. I would have disagreed with you a few years ago. Now I am a believer. Was fishing a lake with a guide in Texas. We caught fish all day. One of the methods to catch fish was to drive the boat around in circles to churn up the water. That would create a disturbance that made bass come up after the baitfish in our wake. We turned around and threw poppers, ploppers, jerk baits, etc. and caught them. Fast forward, Ott Defoe won a tournament on the exact same lake in our same general area fishing water that was churned as pleasure boaters went by. He did the same thing and caught them with one of his signature crank baits.

  4. I don't like when I'm fishing a cove and they come up in the cove when we're wearing them out and run their little jetski across the area where we're fishing knowing there is a whole lot of lake for them to go to

  5. We have a regular Thursday night tournament on one of our lakes. I can go to that lake any other day and catch fish. But Thursday nights are always tough. We have about 25-30 boats every week. The lake is only about 1350 acres and that little bit of traffic makes a huge difference. The tournament has been going on for so many years that even during the offseason Thursday nights are tough. 🤷‍♂️

  6. It absolutely does for me as a kayak fisherman. Not a huge fan of being ragdolled on the water because someone in a big boat went full throttle 50m away from me. Never been thrown off, but I always have to brace and stop fishing.

  7. I live in a college town with a lot of recreational water enjoyers…The river here is really shallow and narrow so the jetski and wake boats make large parts of the river almost un-fishable…I have a small 17 bass tacker and when someone runs 60mph right next to me it pisses me off! lol…I have had people throw a wake over the side of my boat more than a few times…I wish I could afford to go somewhere else, but the boat ramp is 2min from my house and the only other good place to fish is 1.5hr away…I think on a larger river or lake it's probably not as big of a deal

  8. A lot of times in Florida I fish the mouths of canals. Most people will slow down to idle by. I’ll wave them on to run through on plane. It stirs up the bait fish in the grass which creates bites

  9. The lake I live by is a recreational lake mostly, I won’t stay on the water past 10-11am during the summer especially on a weekend and if I fish the evening I won’t put my boat on the water till 6:307:30 cause usually most of the idiots are off the water.

  10. I think they get used to it especially on lakes that have a lot of recreational boaters. We have a spot called party cover, I’ll beach the boat around hang out with the family and still catch 3-5lb at 2-3pm from the bank with a cove FUUULLLL of people! We get bit by bluegill when we’re chilling in the water.

  11. Boats piss me off when I'm pulling em in from the bank and they come speeding by!!! Boats and jetskis! That's why I go Monday through Friday 4am-10am, noon at the latest. Might stay longer if it's nobody at or on the lake!

  12. Yes, boat motors will reduce your catch. Even dropping a heavy lure near a fish can spook them. Even electric motors and prop kayaks will reduce the catch as the prop churns the water. Dropping tools in your boat is also a no no.
