Heavy Rain and Runoff Makes Largemouth Bass Bite!
We had a heavy 4″ rainfall overnight, and when I turned onto the gravel road heading to the lake, there were deep ruts cut across due to the heavy overland flooding of the farm land. A half dozen areas of the lake had heavy, dirty water pouring in. This is an absolute trigger, a dinner bell, for the fish to gather and hammer on bait. I started with a buzzbait and as soon as that bite slowed down, switched to a jig and fired it up into the current or under the flooded willow trees. Every day on the water is a new puzzle, even if it’s a lake you’ve fished many times. Some of these spots have never yielded a bass before, but current changes everything!!!
