My friend – Lake Guntersville guide Myles Murray – HATES LiveScope and forward facing sonar. So in today’s video I’m going to show him all the benefits of my Active Target 2 and some giant bass I found using my Lowrance to convince him to get one!

  1. Interesting how many comments push back on the technology. Obviously you can find the fish but that doesn’t mean you fish them correctly to get the bite or lock you on to “the pattern” . Mike I have watched your videos for years now and you were still able to produce big fish using strictly old school transducers. Your experience trumps every time and the technology just helps. The hair jigs on FL lakes was fantastic with big fish but you had the experience of knowing where to start.
FF and DF sonar is expensive, requires time on the water, and someone like you and others that make it work! Great video man!😊

  2. Awesome man! I can't wait for the hard water to melt and Bass season to open up here in Ontario, Canada and get my Livescope uo and running again. Love the passion and always evolving dude! Love it!!

  3. Just because you can….

    Doesn't mean you should.

It was cool watching Mikey Ballz grow his skills in early video days. Livescope is just lame. Side/Down scan is where I draw the line. I still need to put the work in to catch fish. Its about the chase and the success of putting in the effort. Bass fishing isn't PacMan.

  4. I like it when I use it to practice my retrieves or training myself to nail certain depths. It's also cool to learn fish behavior and log their behavior during certain weather conditions.

But I never use it to simply fish. Takes all the joy out of it and any sense of accomplishment. It also just breeds bad habits if it's abused.

  5. With fishing becoming more popular than ever, I wonder what the long term effects of live scope will be. More and more people are finding double digit fish easier than before. And add in tournament fishing, where most of the fish die after being released.

  6. I put active target on my boat and used it for three trips. After that third trip I came home, pulled it off, and sold it. If your boat moves the slightest amount you lose your target. I spent so much time trying to keep the thing on target. I hate it. Now Humminbird with Target Lock is where it’s at if you’re into that kinda thing. My partner has it and it works awesome. But we rarely use it. Humminbird 360 is the ticket for now until they make that into a Live unit. That will be the cat daddy but it will probably cost about $5k.
