Coming into this trip, I didn’t know how it was gonna go. The YT were going bonkers at the Coronado islands a couple weeks earlier but had pretty much shut off a couple days before this trip. I was a little nervous as to how it was going to go, as I wanted to show the guys from Fins N Spines some good San Diego fishing.

While browsing the youtube a while back, I came across Fred and Jeremy’s channel fin n spines. Their channel focuses on calico bass fishing (fins) and hooping for lobster (spines) out of Dana point. They seemed like cool guys so I reached out to them to see if they wanted to fish together. I was really curious what it would be like to get two videos from the same trip. Jeremy already put their video together and it turned out really well. I’ve got a link to it down in the description.

It turns out, they were cool and I look forward to fishing with them again.

We knew that we were headed to the Coronado islands but didn’t know where exactly. When it’s like this, I just start where I heard they bit last. From there, I hit all the usual spots and look for the best conditions. When I find a good area, I’ll fish it until we either get fish or I get impatient and move on. Some days, I can look at 5-6 different spots. Today we started behind bird shit rock and bounced between here, middle grounds, and the windy side of north island.
