GoPro Mixtape (Big Bass Flipping, Pitching, and Topwater at Lake Okeechobee)

Can you tell I like my GoPro? Got on a stretch in late May and got in the zone. In this few hundred yard little run there was a variety of water clarity and a bit of extra depth in comparison to other edges on the main lake. Key areas for flipping seemed to be small turns and points in the grass especially when grass was mixed. Started the day flipping a jig but with little cloud break up and a few sections of fairly clear water, the jig bite died and I swapped out for a tube presentation. Key areas for the topwater bite were the isolated beds of Maidencane that jutted out a bit from the edge. Saw a lot of guys fish thru them but I treated them more as some of the square bill guys treat a nice piece of wood – multiple upon multiple casts to the same bed (the big miss in the vid was after ~15 casts to the same 15′ circle of grass). Want some more details on the baits as well as some pics: http://mikeybalzzfishing.wordpress.com/2012/08/30/mixtape-mix-bait-lake-okeechobee-big-bass/

  1. Sorry to go off topic, but I have been looking for the video with you in your old grey carport canopy. I am in need of a portable canvas carport and remembered you had a good looking boat cover at your old FL. House. What was the model and manufacturer of you carport. I did not know how else to ask you this question? Thanks for the help.

  2. I know this is an older video Mike, but I was curious as to why you had the boat so far from the grass while flipping, personally I would imagine you would want the boat about 5 feet closer, could you give me some insight?

  3. you need to release your fish properly.. I'm not being rude or anything great video! but the fish don't deserve just to be tossed around. Respect the game

  4. Great use of the Go Pro! Good video. Your hook sets are absolutely ridiculous. You almost fell out of your boat! It doesn't take that much!
