Going Bigger for Delaware River Smallmouth
After my last trip to the Delaware River, I realized I’d been thinking too small.
This time I’m back with bigger lures and a new approach, hoping to find a bigger Delaware River smallmouth. But as I’ve quickly learned, a day on the Delaware can turn into much more than just fishing.
Along the way I encounter bald eagles, a golden eagle, blacknose dace, whirligig beetles, and even make a quick stop to fish one of New Jersey’s iconic trout streams, Flat Brook.
And yes… eventually I find the smallmouth I came looking for.
Thanks to everyone who watched, commented and offered advice after my last Delaware River episode. I’m just getting started exploring what this river has to offer.
Next up: I’m heading back to the Delaware to try something I’ve never fished before — the wacky rig.
